I really like the way you do the first "knit one with yarn in front" by just slipping your needle underneath. It looks very natural

Just downloaded the pattern and watching along. It is very easy to follow. I am using a worsted weight, but thinking it would also be lovely in a fingering yarn with some extra pattern sections of course. Have a lovely day!!

I’m new to knitting I was wondering if this can be done on straight needles rather then circular needles
@handylittleme18 күн бұрын
Hello! Yes, the shawl can be done on straight needles; the shawl is worked back and forth on the needles - knit flat. I personally use circular needles because the longer cable provides extra space, making it easier to manage the larger number of stitches. Happy Knitting!

What’s the point in slipping the first stitch with the yarn in front? What does yarning over do when you just move it to the back after? I’m trying to understand why
@handylittleme15 күн бұрын
Hi there! Great questions! Slipping the first stitch with the yarn in front and then moving it to the back serves a few purposes, especially for beginners knitting a shawl. Neat Edges: Slipping the first stitch with the yarn in front creates a tidy, clean edge that’s more uniform and less bulky. This method helps the edges lay flat and gives the shawl a polished look. Yarn Over’s Role: The yarn over isn't added as an extra stitch in this case; instead, it's simply a way of positioning the yarn correctly for the next stitch. After you slip the stitch with the yarn in front, moving the yarn to the back preps you for knitting without adding a loop. This creates a decorative stripe to break up the garter stitch rows. If you’re looking for more details, the full post (link in description) explains this step in the context of shawl knitting for a smoother finish! Happy knitting, and I hope this helps clarify!

Love the pattern. Thank you for the tutorial. Where did you buy your needles?

Thank you, the needles are from Knit Pro (Zing) in the US - Knitter's Pride.

I, love this pattern, but when you make the second yarn over pattern bit, at 30 rows then when going further should they be spaced out more as the stitches get wider. Hooe this makes sense.
@handylittleme Жыл бұрын
Hello, no, there are the same number of rows between the yarn over the stripes.

Hi! I tried making this shawl (been remaking it a few times actually) but it would always somehow crumple and just make this little blob in between the knit 2s And just wanted to ask do we knit 2 together in 30? Or 40? I hope this can get answered😢 I'm so excited for this pattern and I'm quite sad I can't get it right

Hello! Thank you so much for watching my tutorials and for your feedback! While I won't be repeating the rows verbally, I recommend watching the video again at a slower speed. You can adjust the playback speed in the video settings, which might make it easier to follow along. I hope this helps, and feel free to reach out if you have any other questions!
