Today we tour a handyman's tool bag with over 70 tools inside! I tell you the best tool bag to get in 2022 and what options you have. Over 70 essential tools every handyman, contractor, tradesman, or homeowner needs to own. Bring this bag and some specialty tools, and you can compete almost any job.
I have spend a TON of time and research on almost all of these tools to find out the best one on the market. I love name brand, but its not always the best. For example, the OLFA utility knife, Fastcap measuring tape, spring tool nail set are better than the name brands, but you cannot find them at Lowe's, Home Depot, ETC.

Finally a toolbag from someone who actually uses tools. Most bag tour videos I've watched were from people who look like they just went on an Amazon shopping spree maxing out all their credit cards buying all the Wiha, Wera, Knipex and Milwaukie tools they could find.

Noticed the red paint on your tools. I have an electrical contracting business and have painted most all our company tools, and my own, bright red. Every ladder, drill, or anything else even including extension cords gets spray painted red before it goes into the field. The day I started doing that we stopped "losing" tools all the time. If someone steals an expensive tool spray painted red or any other color can't pawn it or sell it nearly as easy,if at all. Almost impossible to get all the paint off and it stands out if it's being used by someone else. I don't know if you said what brand your tool tote is...but I like it.
@HandymanHertz
@HandymanHertz Жыл бұрын
That’s funny, we both use red. I agree, and even if everyone on the job site is honest, it’s easy to get mixed up on accident. Jackson Palmer is the brand, but the totes are unavailable, not sure why exactly.

I started spraying a lot of my tools, things as well. My Virgin Islands boating friend sprays all her things with yellow. My things are chartreuse (Ryobi green). My dad was big on it because the Navy required his name on everything. But I may get some sort of small stencil. I also use a white paint pen to write on things like chargers so I know what goes to what!

It's nice to see a working man's tool bag. Nobody can question the fact you are actually using those tools. Personally I would change quite a few things and reduce some redundancy (four sources of light - really?) but if it works for you then it's OK. But one thing that is literally burning my eyes when I see it (and you are not the first one) - masonry drill bits DO NOT WORK with impactor. You may have been able to drill some holes in an old, crumbling concrete but this is simply a tool/accessory mismatch. Personally, I prefer a hammer drill for the flexibility, unless you work a lot with old, rusty mechanical screws where impactor will always have the advantage to loosen them.

Handyman is tough when you need tools for everything! Curious on the 3 crescents and the pipe wrench. I do a fair amount of plumbing but pipe wrench I only pull out for cast cleanouts and crescent I think a 12" or 8" is fine, why all three? Electrical plates in your tool bag... I tend to keep a bin of that kind of stuff, plates, receptacles, switches, junction boxes in a bin and leave it in the vehicle. Same with plumbing (too many tools to go into a handyman bag). I like the super slim gardner bender non-contact voltmeter... have 6 of them. Again multi-meter seems like overkill for handyman bag... keep that with my specialty electrical gear. I like the Petzl Actik Core Headlamps with the hybrid ( can use normal batteries or little battery that takes a usb charging cable ). Gaffer tape is a bit nicer than duck tape pulls off without leaving adhesive. I do like the glazer bars like the richards. Typically carry sharkbite removal tools ( little orange clips ) and a string line. Thanks for the bag breakdown nice to see what other people carry ! Be interested to see what you keep in the vehicle. Oscillating tool seems almost as import as impact these days.

Enjoyed the video! I carry a Leatherman multitool at all times as you do. I use wooden golf tees instead of toothpicks for stripped out screw holes when not in a hurry. You should try the Sofirn Q8 Pro light. It's not really a work light, but it's got a camera tripod screw hole on it. Just get a mini tripod and a clamp and you can put the thing anywhere. I've used it a couple times working on my vehicles and if you put it at half brightness it will last hours. Full brightness will probably run it dead pretty quick, but it's super bright. It's already super bright at half brightness. You can get 4 more 18650 batteries and double the run time too.

Hello, I loved my years living in Texas! I don’t find that I need wrenches/sockets very much for what I do. I do keep them in my pick up, but not in my bag. My Klein electrician screwdriver has several small common sizes built into it. Also, sockets and wrenches, take up size and weight, which is a premium tote in my bag around.

Interesting video....Not quite the selection of tools I would carry, but differences are probably down to individual circumstances... For instance although i have nut drivers, I mostly carry a Bahco 1/4" mini socket set with a few additions as my "go to"...I have the adjustable spanners, but never carry a big pipe wrench. With regards power tools, I have the Bosch 12v stuff and really like it. I recently bought a Bosch 3.6v Go 2 cordless screwdriver on a bit of a whim and love it...I was surprised to find it does about 75% of the tasks I used my drill / impact driver for around the home. I love the form factor and think I will be using it a lot in future.... With regards your tote, I think the floppiness would drive me potty, but that large screw compartment on the bottom changed my opinion on it to a degree. If you work residential to any degree, you might consider adding some of those slip on plastic shoe covers to help protect the customers flooring...
@HandymanHertz
@HandymanHertz 5 ай бұрын
Thanks for your input! i looked up those Bahco 1/4" Mini socket. It looks great, but couldnt find a set that has SAE sockets, so thats a deal breaker for me. Yeah, every person has different needs. i use my pipe wrench a lot, doing small plumbing projects. i'll add and remove tools to make the perfect bag for me, maybe someday i'll get it just right. Every other tool is in the truck or tool trailer. I've never even thought about the floppiness of the bag, it does what i need it to do. What tool bag are you running?

Yes, I rarely get my drill out of my truck. I'd say 98% of things I can do with an impact driver. But there are some things, like a holesaw, that require a drill. @@HandymanHertz I don’t have any 12 volt Dewalt tools, but I was thinking about getting the DCF845, which is 20 volt. I have the DCF787, and it works fine for what I do, but I kind of wish it had multiple speed settings.

@@DiligentDave1966 I have the Dewalt 850, it’s the atomic style and it is very very small and nice. So far so good on that. I have 2 887’s that are true work horses and I’ve had luck with for years. One I bought 7 years ago in a kit. All of these are brushless and have that 1825 inch pounds of torque I’m not sure why Dewalt offer so many styles with the same motors. 🤷🏼‍♂️ no need to switch to 12 V if you don’t have the batteries. The 850 is really lightweight and almost as small as the 12 V

@@HandymanHertz I had considered the 887, but I saw a couple of videos where it started smoking. I’ve heard it’s a real work horse, but I’ve also heard it’s not durable. I think the 850 might be a little too compact. That’s why I was considering the 845. It seems to fit in between. Do you have any Ridgid tools?

I’m surprised how little structure that bag has . I can’t believe it’s held up 3 years with how flimsy it appears to be .

What is the reason anyone would give you a hard time for using milwaukee tools? Milwaukee is not as common in my area. Is Milwaukee over priced? Do you not get what you pay for in runtime or performance? Or is it just people trying to justify or reinsure their choice of brand loyalty?

I just it’s just good banter and guys giving each other a hard time. Milwaukee is a great product, but it does seem to be a little overpriced in my opinion.

That bag looks sloppy as hell because there is no structure to it but it's an awesome bag at the same time.

Yeah, I like it for what I need to do. Especially since it was about a fifth of the price of a Veto bag.
