Took me awhile of thinking but I finally figured out what Oreo reminded me of. He is an elf. He has elf ears and an elf face.

sweet video. i love that there are rescue operations for monkeys that work within their natural set of behaviors and instincts to give the babies another shot at being raised by families of their own kind. they're the only interactions ive really seen where contact with humans helped the monkeys as opposed to corrupting, confusing or otherwise harming them. brilliant behavioral science and lots of hard work.

People really love to hate baboons. But if you watch that little shaking nervous system...the way this baby searches human eyes...hes so sweet...and more human than so many humans. I know the older they get the more wild they become. And now he's in the right environment to be a baboon. I know its an old video. But I hope he's out in the wild. Enjoying his life, as it should be. These rescue organizations, care, and the vervet rescue, are so smart and humane. They give me hope in humanity

How can one not love little Oreo? He has the sweetest little face. Poor baby lost his mom at such a tender age, It's truely sad to be a little orphan. He has adjusted quite well to his new mom, sleeping and talking to her. He is adorable and I will be watching him with interest.

So, that was just plain cuteness overload when he fell asleep and his mouth was open!!!! As with any baby monkey, I can see why people would want to have them as pets, but you have to keep in mind that they grow up. They aren't ugly when they grow up, but the behavior is that of a wild animal and we shouldn't try to stop them being that by owning them like a pet. Learn from other people's mistakes and horror stories about owning a wild animal that should stay wild.

Great video Kyle. Just look at those Fence Enclosures. You guys need to hire the same contractor to do yours at the Vervet Foundation. You could keep Velociraptors behind those fences, maybe even a rescued baby T-Rex.

You are very right on the not having had college etc.. to have a good education. I spent 19 months in the Philippinnes (while in the US Navy) and learned a lot from living in a different country, I did not stay on base or just in the area outside the gates. I was fortunate to have been stationed with a good group of people that also wanted to explore the beautiful country, and not just the tourist attractions but we also experienced the challenges and day to day living the people endured. It wasn't all sunshine and rainbows.

aww baby baboons are ultra cute. I have seen a a documentary on CARE, and they are similar to your sanctuary but in a way they are very different, when these newborns come in they get a full time mom, and they sleep with them and are around them almost 24/7. They treat them like they are their own babies it is really quite fasinating.
@VervetMonkey5 жыл бұрын
Yup, Baboons are much more dependent on having a full time individual because they become so clingy to them, where as Vervets don't really seem to care about having a single caretaker, also the Baboons give birth year round so it's much easier for them to dedicate one person to a baboon since they rarely have more than a couple at a time, where as with us it's nearly impossible to dedicate one person to one Vervet since we can have upwards of 10 at a time.

These little creatures are so special. They are so unusual looking because of their snouts. The snouts give them an almost human facial look. I am glad people care for these animals. We are losing too much biodiversity thanks to greed and selfishness.
