Did you know that the word Sahara comes from the Arabic word ṣaḥrāʾ, which means "desert". Sahara is the plural form of ṣaḥrāʾ. In Arabic, the Sahara is also known as Al-Ṣaḥrāʾ al-Kubrā, which means "the Great Desert". Sahara is also used as a name that comes from the Arabic word ṣaḥrā. The name is a reference to the vast, arid landscapes of North Africa.
