Just an FYI if you rev it up on the hose like that without backpressure, not only are you increasing the chances that it will runaway on you, but you can easily bend or snap reed valves. only idle or just off idle on the hose!

So you remember when the 18hp puked on you because of the pressure? When you reinstalled that top plug you allowed it to build a negative pressure to assist in hold the gear lube in.

Thanks for the video as it helped me get started. I just got one of these bad boys. I had a gear oil pump for my jeep but that has no screw in adaptor. The hose was to big but found that the plastic return clip that fills up the toilet bowl inside the toilet tank can screw right in the oil tube fits right over that! Started on the third or forth pull!

You don’t have to pull the safety lid out to kill the engine. You could just push down the red button on top of where the safety lanyard goes.

I just ordered one. It's pretty light at 63 pounds. The two stroke makes it lighter. I this it would be fine on a 12 foot John.

So far so good. We should have some riding videos up once we get it past the break in period. We've been running it in some pretty rough conditions and it's been good. Gets the 10.8 FT dinghy on plane even with 3 adults on board.

So I was about to buy this, come to find out in Texas you title and register outboards, did package come with a blank title or Mfr of origin doc or other for titling registering? I’m new to this. I wrote hangkai and they said they don’t send paper work. That puzzles me.

It’s definitely a big upgrade over the 6 hp that we had. Haven’t got the chance to test it with 2 people but the 18 planes very easily with 2 people. Hopefully this one will as well.

Yea I was always taught to fill from bottom up and watch it come through the top. That way no back pressure

Is this a long shaft outboard? Because my 13' Saturn SD 385 requires a short shaft outboard. Either way I'm still looking at getting the 12 horsepower outboard. Please let us know how this performs on your bris boats. Thanks again

It is a 400mm short shaft. It's looking like it can get the boat up around 20 mph with one person and gear. We should have a video coming up soon. We've been trying to get the 12 and 18 past the break in and we've been running them in some pretty harsh conditions.

I have a 14 jon boat! All I hear is about these motors on inflatables, I need one for my Jon boat.

I wish we still had an old jon boat laying around that we could test it on. Unfortunately the one we've got now has a stick steer and remote controls so it would be difficult to toss one of these on it. That being said, I'm sure it would work fine. The Hangkai 12 is a copy of a Tohatsu 9.8, so if you think 9.8 HP is enough for your boat you should be good.
