hi, professional dancer here who also started in adulthood (started mid 20s for myself, developed into something way bigger than I anticipated). Came across this video randomly, thank you for sharing, first of all! Just wanted to leave this here to encourage anyone else wanting to pursue dance but are afraid it's too late: it's never too late to pursue "having fun." It doesn't have to turn into a career, and no one can fault you for just having a good time. I tell my students that class is the time to celebrate PROGRESS, not perfection. And progress means something different for everybody. Hop in class, because why cheat yourself out of a good time?

I've never seen a video that is even half as inspirational as this for me personally. I'm 25 now and feeling like I'm getting to old to learn new things and cursing myself for never doing anything while I was younger. There's a few dance studios around me and I've been really interested in learning to dance, I think you've just given me that final push of inspiration to really go out and try! So thank you for showing me that it isn't too late.

I’ve always wanted to try out dancing but I’m too shy as well and thought now I’m too old for that too (27years old) but this just inspired me to try things out because certainly life is about learning and growing and trying things out no matter the age! Thank you :)

When I was 23 or so I tried asking around if it's too late to start if I all want is just the skill, not any type of career. Someone online told me a girl started, _started_ as a total beginner at 22 and became a professional dancer at 28. You're definitely not too old to start for many, many contexts, including to pursue it as a career, depending on what type of dancing and what type of career you'd seek. It's never too late to start learning the violin either but kids get told 5 is too old! Why, because the people saying 5 is too old have a very specific perspective. They're thinking about a career as a violinist who is a highly skilled soloist and wins lots of awards and makes decent money with that. If you want to learn to dance because you want to have all these dancing skills because you just enjoy dancing and want to enjoy being able to do all these moves and routines - IT'S NOT TOO LATE, not at all. You're 17, you're so young. I'm 27. I want to give you one piece of advice and I hope it helps you waste a lot less time than I wasted! Two pieces of advice actually: 1. Overthink your overthinking! Critisize it and try to figure out what experiences will help you ACTUALLY GATTER DATA instead of just theorizing and thinking about things. Make those experiences, gatter that data, and then make more solid decisions. Otherwise let your decisions be a bit more flexible, be open to changing your mind, build that awareness of flexibility in your mind. 2. Always assume the people giving you advice and criticism might be the stupidest people alive or the smartest people alive, thay advice or critism might be pure toxic garbage or the smartest thing ever. Don't just accept what other people say with this thought somewhere in the back of your head that they might be right and you wrong. Always dig around a bit, seek what you need so YOUR BRAIN gets it, so your mind understands it. I hope this is helpful! I wish you all the best.

Go girl!!! I went to k-pop cover dance classes since last year when i was 34. It was around twice a month first. Then since this february i`m going to dance school for jazz-funk, contemporary and hip-hop 2-3 different trainings a week plus gym. I never really danced before in my life, never been sporty or active and i weight 92 kg, so it`s all really challenging for me. I`m also working on losing weight for better dancing. But i feel so much pleasure from dancing, i feel myself prettier and stronger. And capable to do things that not everyone can do, sort of superpower.

Hey Hang, seeing you trying new things like this honestly makes me less anxious about getting older. I’m about 6 years younger and always thinking that by the time I’m 30 I should have most things figured out and experienced what I’ve planned. I feel like there’s a ticking time bomb on my life. This whole video made me reevaluate these feelings of dread that I’ve been having and see that I don’t have to worry so much about achieving things before a certain age and that I’m never too late to start new challenges and learn new skills. 😅 So thank you for this video, I really needed that. Also, you were awesome!! 🎉 Props to you for doing this and the affirmations must’ve worked because you were a confident baddie on stage 👏🏻👏🏻 I love how supportive your friends and fiancé were the whole time ❤ Looking forward to future videos and following your dance journey 😉 Love from the Netherlands :)

I've been quite shy up to my 18 years old when I started breakdancing and playing on stage with a band. Up to today, this is still my testament that's never too late to start doing something and your personality will just adapt accordingly. So here I'm: started practicing Lindy Hop at 36yo, get back to skating and started surfing at 39yo. We've just one life as far as we know, we should be sure to make the most out of it. Do whatever you like or you feel you want to try out. It's never too late. Best! P.S. you rock!

If you want to dance, dance no matter the age! I'm a living proof! I started dancing at 36. I've been dancing a whole lot, several times a week in group for the last 6 years (Covid included on videocalls with the teacher). Right now I'm 42 and I've never been more healthy in my life, I've grown muscles I've never had before and If I have to run to catch the bus I never get out of breath which has always happened to me even being much, much younger... And, above all, I've never felt more confident about myself and my skills. Of course, it hasn't been an overnight achivement, but more of a process that has been worth it every minute. So to you all younger people out there: don't let anyone fool you, age is a mental state. You can be 20 and feel like 50, and be 50 and feel like 20. Of course, if you start without a good physical condition, take it easy at first, cause being a little bit older injuries may appear easier. Some common sense, but other than that: DANCING EVERYBODY!!🤩🤩🤩🤩 Watching your video has been like a mirror to the rollercoaster feelings I go (we all go I think) through every year when the Exhibition is coming... The thing is that I've never had been given so many flowers to me after the show!! You did it wonderfully well and noone would have said you are shy by your moves and attitude! Kudos

I am 23 years old and I have never danced before in my life, though I was really curious about it. I never had the intention to actually move forward with it and I was extremely scared to try it, but I was very interested in learning more about it. I went with my instincts and decided to apply for dance classes to overcome my fear and try something outside of the scope of what I normally do. I wanted to leap and get out of my comfort zone. So far I have completed two classes. During my first time as a completely beginner dancer, I was fearful, but I still showed up. I tried out Intro to Hip Hop. I knew nothing about dancing and I have never danced before in my life so I assumed that it was going to be slow. I am not used to being surrounded by other people in one class. There were times where I stepped out and stood there and not dance while everybody else proved their ability as a moderate in their beginner classes. I got laughed at because I couldn’t keep up with the rest of the beginners and I refused to continue my participation of doing a particular movement in a dance that I wasn’t comfortable with doing or couldn’t find my rhythm to do it. I still show up to class and will continue doing so in the future even by the judgements that I get and will be applying through fundamental dance class workshops that they have to offer.

I have really loved dance since I was a kid but I had to stop because of health issues for about 10 years and I was always worried about wether I'll ever be able to dance again but this video made me feel a whole lot better, thank you 😊❤

I've just started dancing this year, and I'm in my 40s. I mostly do my own freestyle rather than cover the version of popular choreography. My favorite song is Japanese, especially with Vocaloid and CeVIO, which is the largest trend in Japan when it comes to Dance Cover.

I think the KZbin channel "Get Dance" is amazing for us who have zero coordination and can't even move legs and arms in different directions at the same time and need to start from absolute zero. For me, usually not even the most simple choregraphy for beginners helps me at all and for me looks too intense haha.

Love this video! I attend this same studio and love taking the classes. I feel awkward in each class but your video really motivated me to keep going!

Congratulations!! You really did such a brave thing and your performance was so good! I've been dancing for a while so I know it can be overwhelming (I can always relate to not remembering what happens on stage lol) but you did awesome and it was fun to see how you documented your process :)

Just stumbled across this video! What was your journey for learning to dance at 30? Just jumping straight in with classes? Did you start with beginner's classes and work your way up? How did you find a group that would take an adult beginner dancer or how did you go about finding adult beginner lessons? Curious as I would love to do this!

Duuuude I am so in the same boat. As a little kid around 5 or 6 I started dancing on my own, watching videos and just mimicking things I see on music videos. And even though I have rhythm, I stopped trying to dance when I became a teenager. And of course, my asian parents were never really supportive of creative arts like dancing so I never took any classes but I've always wondered and wondered if I have what it takes to just go to a class and just pick it up. But my lack of training has got me SPOOKED and too self conscious. Every week I think about it, every week I walk past the dancing studio. I just can't fucking bring myself to step into that class.
