It's just not bass fishing, you got to understand what it does to all types of fishing. Musky, fish of 10,000 casts, now becomes fish of 100 casts or less. And the more frequent these fish are handled by inexperienced anglers the more susceptible they are to harm. It can destroy waters for sure

Just about every competitive sport has restrictions, and those restrictions are there for important reasons. Competitive runners can't have shoes with a stack height of more than 40mm and no more than one carbon plate. Baseball, as mentioned. Swimming supersuits, carbon graphite cricket bats, sticky gloves in football, etc. Biking, F1, stock car racing all have banned equipment. There is an important conversation that needs to take place in competitive fishing.

I'm watching Rick Clunn closely on this one, so far he has proven to be on the fence for fear of upsetting his sponsors. Almost 100% agreed with you. But in tournaments they are killing fish no one sees ripping them out deep water and dropping them right back in just to try to get bigger fish they grab them by the belly and squeeze them hard to deflate them just enough to get them to go down and not float to be seen. Then they die or just go straight to the bottom and die. I have seen it personally myself firsthand. Also you take ffs on their boat they can compete against a 8 year old with a Zebo 33 and bare hook muss less be a pro hell they can’t even cast or skip docks. We catch enough BS from Karen without beating the docks and boats up looking like complete jackass’s and getting back classified as the enemy against dock owners.

Amen - perfectly said by both you and hank!!!!! To all the young anglers out there here is a life lesson for you - change is inevitable but that doesn't mean that it is always for the better!!!! The older you get the more evident this will become.

It is about time Randy got some help from the legends. Couldn't agree more and Hank's analogy should be heard by BASS. Thanks Randy for continuing to try to make it right for the next generation.

I was absolutely in the same boat as Hank. I thought Randy was too strident on this, until this year and seeing the technology- which I actually own - being used in spring on Southern reservoirs. What everybody is also missing is the brand dilution that is occurring because of it. These pros are brands, and having a cast of no-names keep rotating through and winning tournaments is going to destroy some of the economics of the sport.

I fully agree with what Hank Parker and Randy both say about forward facing sonar. I only fish bass from the bank and when I hook a lunker from a lure that I chose from my tackle bag it is very enjoyable. I like the challenge of Bass fishing

Randy you and @HankParkerOutdoorMagazine are not alone in this. I have been watching fishing channels that advocate FFS and they get a ton of negative comments regarding the use of FFS. I've said this before too. If a pro angler needs FFS to catch fish they are not a pro at all. And if they use it in a tournament , they should remove the hooks from the lures. Stay safe and thanks for the great info.

Absolutely agree, you cannot argue with Hanks analogies on sports. FFS will destroy tournament fishing to the point of many leaving the sport and then all you will see on TV/online will be a bunch of young guys trolling around looking down at screens. Viewer ship will plummet shortly thereafter and it will force them to change course. I hope they get it before that happens and ban FFS soon.

I was tuned into Bass After Dark last week and even Ken Duke mentioned in the comments that a lot of the Pros Didn't want to really talk about it because they were afraid of loosing sponsors. Thinking about it, it seems crooked that corporations can control the narrative like that. For it or against the tech itself, you have to admit that companies restricting the free exchange of ideas and opinions is bad for the sport.

It’s helping those catch more fish. Bigger fish and helping learn how fish react to baits. How dare a professional bass circuit allow bigger bass to be targeted, caught and brought to the scales! Is pulling a 10pound female of a bed that’s about to spawn to die in a live well or the stress killing many eggs good for the sport?

FFS is just one technology in the pool of many.....competition should be equal on every level but it's not in pro fishing. Something simple as fishing a tournament on your home lake...is that equal? No it isn't. Having a faster boat or just better equipment can be considered not equal. When the B.A.S.S. circuit first started every angler fished out of the same kind of boat, same motor, and they could only have so much equipment....they didn't even know what lake they were going to fish until they were on a plane headed for the tournament.....lets bring back those days and really make it equal.

As a Livescope owner, I can honestly say that my fishing abilities/knowledge have not changed since owning my Livescope, but...my ability to catch more fish has increased since owning it. Perhaps...Livescope should be promoted for the amateur to use, an not in Professional tournaments.

You and Hank are 100 percent correct, The problem is all of these young people just don’t get it because they are too young. When you get older you look back on all of the things that you’re parents used to give youadvice on and you thought that they were crazy and didn’t know anything, then the little light goes off in your head and you realize wow mom and dad were right, I should’ve listened to them. Some people get it and some never do.

There’s already reports of crappie lakes being emptied out. you don’t think that’s gonna happen with every other species of fish. Even with catch and release they still die sometimes. There’s way too many fishermen in this country to not restrict technology. If this continues in 20 years there be nothing left
