I am a funeral director, and I will say this until the day I die: please stop commenting on bodies that look pregnant! There are mothers who leave the hospital without their baby and come straight to the mortuary to plan funeral services, or who know their pregnancy is no longer viable and need to make arrangements in the midst of medical procedures. Its already an incredibly painful process, please don't make it worse.

Hi, Hannah! Love your content. Just wanted to note that, like another commenter mentioned, most disabled folk prefer to just be called disabled. We find language like "differently abled," "special needs," and "handi-capable" to be incredibly condescending, and not at all accurate to our situation; there isn't any need to sugarcoat disability, and it certainly doesn't benefit us; disability is not a dirty word. Also, I don't know if this is just a "me" thing but, as a soon-to-be mom (36 weeks pregnant) with a disability, having been raised by two non-disabled parents who often credited themselves for MY finishing college, or learning to drive, or getting married, I find the whole "special needs mom," "disabled parent" thing to be equally as annoying. You aren't a disabled parent/special needs parent because your child has a disability; you would only be a disabled parent if you, yourself were disabled - and a parent. I've always felt like the parents of physically handicapped/non-neurotypical kids feel that they're owed some kind of gold star or extra recognition because of their CHILD'S difficulties, and that's always rubbed me the wrong way.

I’m sorry you had that experience with your parents, your achievements were definitely all of your own doing!! As someone whose little brother has Down Syndrome, I’ve also always hated terms like “differently-abled,” since as you said it sounds condescending and, for me, takes away from the struggles he still deals with. However, to be honest, I’ve felt that the term “special needs” applies to him well because he does have very specific needs; at 21 years old, he’s non-verbal, not fully toilet trained, has a very limited diet, and requires constant supervision to be safe and healthy. While I usually just say “my brother has Down Syndrome,” since there is such a range of severity in that disability (as with all disabilities), with some people being able to live on their own, drive, go to college, etc. , sometimes it’s easier to just say he has special needs to emphasize that he requires special assistance. It really is way too big of a blanket term in my opinion though! Do you think it’s ultimately best to just ask each individual disabled person what term they prefer to use, or just use the term “disabled” to be on the safe side? I will also add that you make a great point about “disabled/special needs parent,” it really doesn’t make any sense! If anything, it makes much more sense to say “a parent OF a disabled/special needs child.” While a parent of a disabled child do face their share of challenges (I know from my parents’ experience), the emphasis still definitely needs to be put on the child who actually has the disability and deals with it in every aspect of their life! Anyway, sorry for the essay, and also a big congratulations on your pregnancy!

As a disabled person, I also prefer “Disabled” over stupid things like “Differently Abled”. I don’t mind “Special Needs”, though, because I do sometimes require accommodations and stuff, which I feel “Special Needs” emphasizes. To me, terms like “Differently Abled” feel like they’re kind of minimizing/ignoring my struggles. Also, “Handi-Capable” sounds absolutely ridiculous and seems to be similar to “Differently Abled” in the way that it seems to ignore the fact that my condition makes things harder for me.

something that peeves me so much about people [huns] talking down on people who went to college/uni and "aren't using their degrees" is that they don't understand that while yes, a lot of people might not end up working "in their field", they still have built skills and gained experiences that have helped shape who they are as people. I have a diploma in marketing and a degree in music, and I don't work in marketing nor am I continuously paid to sing (although I do get paid to do it), but I use skills that I built up in those programs every single day, and that I may not have built up otherwise or in the same ways that they serve me now. It's not that you must go to post-secondary to build skills, but the particular combination of skills and applications of them in that type of setting are still useful.

My mom is ACTUALLY a small business owner who established a nonprofit pediatric pt/ot/speech therapy clinic more than six years ago. Once they started gaining traction, she was able to quit her original job and pay herself a YEARLY WAGE!! it doesn’t matter how many appointments are actually attended and eventually paid in the month. she gets a consistent, reliable wage and doesn’t have to worry about not getting a paycheck. neither do the people working for her. who 90% happen to be women (mostly because there’s a severe lack of male pt/ot/speech therapists in the pediatric space). we keep trying to say that she needs a raise because she watches over 400+ treatments being performed each week, but she refuses it because she wants to really really deserve every cent. she’s a irl boss babe.

Most disabled people prefer to just use the label disabled!! It’s a part of our lives, and it’s not a bad word! Lots of parents of disabled kids typically have moved to using “medical momma” or “disabled kiddo raiser” because “special needs” is a form of person first language, and that’s icky! Just to spread some awareness about language regarding people in the disabled community

Can I ask why person first language is icky?
@haddles.paddles

@@Alyse_bell of course!! PFL is an attempt to separate a person from their identity (disability). Most of the disabled community hate PFL because they can’t separate themselves from their disability, so others shouldn’t attempt to when referring to them. It is always with me, it is a part of who I am. And that’s okay!! I also don’t like it because like, why do you need to *remind* yourself that I’m a person first before my disabilities? It also creates boundaries when receiving proper access to care and accessibility. Identity first language is the preferred for almost everyone!! Unfortunately that’s not what’s taught in schools because of ableism :/

@@Alyse_bell Hi! Autistic person here! (So I can’t speak for other kinds of disabilities) In my experience, person first language feels a bit infantilizing, as well as not acknowledging that my autism is a part of who I am, compared to something I have. I don’t HAVE autism, I AM autistic. Granted I’m just one person, and I’m not an expert on this kind of stuff, but I do know that there are plenty of autistic people who talk about this kind of thing. When you have questions about stuff like this, it’s best to look for resources made by disabled people and/or disabled people talking about it. I hope this helps!

22:22 I can’t stand how these Huns throw their partners under the bus or label them as ‘unsupportive’ if they simply express concerns about joining an MLM. Especially when the Hun says that they had struggled to come up with the money to join. If your struggling to come up with $40 to join a company to work from them, then more than likely their concerns are legitimate and not about them not supporting you.

I use to sell on Amazon, and I've never done affiliate through them. I know that you can hold inventory when selling on Amazon, but for the most part you can send your items to their facilities and they will do the storing and shipping when the item sells. They take more money from that sale because of that, but even then you dont necessarily have to hold inventory to sell on Amazon. You can buy items in bulk and have it shipped straight to their warehouse and never see it. I dont suggest that, but you can do that and even then it almost totally nulls her point that you would have to hold inventory.

I don't like the statement "truck load of pre-existing conditions coming at them" 24:30. Don't put children on diets unless recommended and SUPERVISED by the child's doctor. Also just because your kid is "skinny" doesn't mean they can't develop or don't have heart problem, asthma, diabetes, high blood pressure, and etc. We as a society have to stop associating weight with disease and sickness. I know "skinny" people who ignore clear health problems because their "skinny" so how could they be sick.

Not only are the numbers false and the statements made by the woman are despicable, using BMI statistics for children, women (does the scientific community ever bother considering women?) and men under 5'5" or above 5'11" are flawed. BMI should be binned. It is constantly misused. Have we all forgotten that children, especially girls, have puppy fat? When it comes to the USA, the portion sizes and inclusion of corn syrup or sugar in food (eg bread and yoghurt) is an issue. The food additives in the US compared to Europe are wild. If MLM huns put this much effort into campaigning for regulation around food additives, things might change.

I've been an Amazon affiliate. There is not cost and no inventory. I agree with you, Hannah; she must be confusing the Affiliate program with being a seller on Amazon. Though as far as being a seller on Amazon...I'd rather sell on Amazon and hold inventory than be in an MLM, but it takes all kinds to make a world. About 11 years ago I had a mildly successful business on Etsy, selling my handmade jewelry. I held inventory, because I made every piece. And it wasn't horrendous to do so (though jewelry is certainly smaller than some other items, no question). I toy with restarting it, because extra money is cool, and I'd make this stuff anyway. I just...I don't like how these folks act as if starting a more conventional business is horrendously difficult. It really isn't, at least not where I live. I paid something like $125-$150 to get the thing licensed and I had a sole proprietor business. I made $500 in the first couple months. I had several things working in my favor, though; I'd started in the holiday season, for instance. Can't say that'd work so neatly if it had been July. Nobody needs an MLM to start a business. No one. It's a business model that pulls you into itself so it can get your resources and benefit from them by sending them up the chain to the top-ranked folks, whomever they might be. You are a cog in an ever-growing machine, sacrificing your money, your time, and your future, for this company that doesn't care about you. Don't let these people deceive you; it is not a good opportunity, and you will lose precious things in your life that you don't deserve to lose. These companies want your money; nothing more. You are precious and priceless. A more conventional business can be scary, but it's far more likely to bring you financial stability or freedom than an MLM is. I don't hate you; I care about you. I want you to have the best life has for you, and I don't want you to be exploited and abused for anyone's financial gain. I'd say that at least most folks in the anti-MLM space would agree with that. You have the agency to choose what to do, but I'd be lying if I said I liked it. May you be blessed.

This is regarding the 2nd to last one - I’ll try and keep it to the point. I am a mom to a 3 year old and a 10 month old; our baby was diagnosed at birth with a disability and while I am grateful it was caught early it doesn’t negate the fact that between the hospital, doctors and therapy visits have all been extremely difficult on our family. Don’t get me wrong, we have barely scratched the surface of what our sons disability will look like for him and his life but the short time that he’s been here, I have spent countless amounts of hours in unexpected hospital visits, solo doctors visits due to Covid and trying to navigate this all while still having to show up for my daughter. No one said parenting would ever be easy, yet the pain that I feel when my son is enduring pain that I can’t take away from him or the guilt of whether I’m doing what’s best for him, constantly weighs heavy on my heart. This is probably one of the most isolating experiences I have ever gone through. I’ve been to support and play groups and while it’s nice in the moment it still doesn’t take away that feeling of complete vulnerability and isolation even though I’m aware that many families experience similar situations. I know there are some pretty cruel people in this world but to think someone can go on their social media in such a happy and bubbly manner, completely targeting a very vulnerable group of parents just to fill their own pockets is completely disgusting. I hope one day she will realize how wrong she was in making this video.

I haven't even watched this yet and already know I'm going to get fired up. I'm a mom of 3 year old twins, one of which is special needs. She has very significant, lifelong disabilities including hearing loss, CVI, spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy, nonverbal, and more. I'm a member of several Facebook groups ranging from twin mom groups to groups for specific diagnosis. It breaks my heart when I see MLMers prey upon the vulnerable members of these groups that I am apart of. Many of which are lonely with little to no support system or are in financial distress. I'm truly lucky I am armed with knowledge and have a good support system, but many are blinded by lies and false promises. I may or may not edit this comment after watching lol

I can't remember if I have commented this on one of your videos before, but I recently found out a friend had joined Arbonne. We're more acquaintances who see each other every once in awhile but I ran into her at one of her other jobs and she started pitching to me. I knew it a mile away when it started. She was defensive before I even really said anything. She emphasized she had started HER business where people just had to buy things on her website and she got paid. I am horrible at explaining why these businesses are not legit. I also feel like a gentle approach over time of really explaining it might work better after the initial warning but I don't have that opportunity with her. I just told her to watch out for how much money she has spending versus how much money she is making to make sure that she doesn't lose money. She is in a vulnerable position. I don't know exactly what her limitations are but she has some intellectual limitations. She has been taking advantage of in the past and her family had to step in. Unfortunately I think it's a family member who got her into this.

I think this is now the second screenshot of texts you've shown where the person said they're not interested in an MLM and the hun instantly screeched "We're not a pyramid scheme!" despite that not being what was said 😂. That response says everything that you need to know about that "business opportunity".

Love this video! Looking at how social media dynamics affect us, imo, is a big and a bit scary topic. As someone who mentally lives at '30,000 feet', I don't often get riled up at actual daily news, forget about how well an egg is colored in! I work in consumer research, so understanding popular culture and what drives it is central to how to best market products.

I watched your deep dive on Optavia this summer and cannot stand them. When one of my co-workers told me she had signed up (through her gym trianer which is just awful in itself), I was like, nooooo! She was with me after school one day and busted out one of the snacks. I had to try a bite just to see and it was just as awful as the company itself. Just no no no absolutely not.

That first woman talking about “affiliate marketing” seems to have got it mixed up with dropshipping and being a traditional seller. Top tip as someone who used to be responsible for a small company’s Amazon listings: check if the third party you’re about to buy from has good ratings and if so, see if they have their own website. There’s a good chance they will be cheaper if you buy from them directly as they won’t have to worry about the huge Amazon fees for sellers.

Love your channel Hannah ❤ it pisses me off so bad that Beach Body “coaches” call themselves like that or trainers when real experts do have to study for it, have to take courses and internships. I am studying for my Certified Personal Trainer Certificate along with Nutrition and really stresses me out they prey on people that may be sick, desperate for results or have an eating discorder!!!!! I admire the work you do and your courage!! Hug and kisses to your kitties ❤️

I hesitate to use weight as a statistical measure of health for groups of children. There are too many individual factors. Anecdotal evidence isn't evidence, but I've seen this repeated in other kids. My nephew is obese. He's 14. He's active. He lifts weights and runs. He plays on the defensive line of his JV football. He eats healthy because his parents are good cooks who cook healthy food. Genetically, the child was never going to be small. He is from two families full of stout long lived people who die in their 90s. Conveniently enough, his parents are also tall people. (I alas got the short genes.) Meanwhile, I have a friend's kid that I'm not convinced has ever seen the sunlight and games on her computer every day and has an absolutely atrocious diet while being skinny. Kids grow and change. They can worry about their weight when they're done growing.

A nitpick, but as a disabled person, I hate the expressions “special needs parents” and “disabled parents” unless the parent is disabled. That’s not how adjectives work, but the real issue it bothers me is because there is always an emphasis on the poor parents (who signed up for this) and not the disabled person. What I’m getting at is the assumption that disabled people are super reliant on their parents and therefore a burden, plus people hearing “disabled parents” and assuming that disabled people cannot be parents themselves. Not sure if this makes sense, if you’re disabled, please comment your perspective. And for everyone else: When you hear “disabled parents” in context of a club, FB group, or the like, which demographic do you think of?

As someone who was (and still is) obese (and borderline poor)I didnt need expensive meal alternatives. I needed knowledge on how to eat and cook properly and not sustain mostly on processed food because healthier food was to expensive. I needed to be motivated to do something physically challenging to do everyday (like a sport or fun physical activity). The struggle I have trying to overcome learned habits and lose excess weight 😬

with amazon it‘s extremely easy to get an affiliate link. basically anybody can get one. that‘s why you see amazon affiliate links in any video anywhere. and you absolutely don‘t need to think about what products somebody would buy. even if i click on the imagined lipgloss link Hannah mentioned in the video and i buy something completely different, Hannah would still get the commission for the stuff I actually bought.

Two congrats & one comment: A) Congrats on starting your family. Your excitement for your family's future comes across very clearly in your videos. B) Congrats on "surviving" being off youtube for such a long time, as it appears your viewing numbers are trending toward where they were pre-break. I am just guessing, but I think that when it comes to youtube content that the creator must be concerned about the out-of-sight-out-of-mind battle, and you seem to be winning it. I confess that when you were off, I guessed that you were sidelined by some legal issue, and am glad you were out for a positive reason. C) You did a video about Beach Body/Bodi, and then in a more recent video you mentioned Beach Body/Bodi while making a point. Here's my point: You are now the clear leader in the anti-mlm arena, and as such I want to think you want to help others who are also fighting the mlm battle. To that end, there is a creator named Deanna Mims who actually WAS in Beach Body and has done numerous videos about her experiences in it. She can't hold a candle to you in terms of presentation, preparation and research, but I think you could help her out by doing a collab with her on her site or at least shouting her out when you refer to Beach Body/Bodi. A rising tide lifts all boats. You clearly are leading the anti-MLM charge. I guarantee that when you were doing the poms/dance stuff, that you were always more than willing to help out teammates who were struggling with the routine or letting personal problems affect their performance. As leader of the anti-mlm team, you can help your teammates in this battle as well.

I love when you get fiesty - you seem like such a polite, kind person who strikes me as a lot more patient than I am, so when you start calling BS it makes a huge impact! I’m a size zero and am VERY knowledgeable about health and fitness- people please eat more than 1000 calories a day, don’t starve yourselves, it’s not the solution. The REAL solution is healthy habits over a long period of time. Small steps taken daily add up to real change. It takes time at first, but you’ll keep the results, because you’re building a sustainable lifestyle. Now I stay in shape without even trying, because my habits are so ingrained in me.
