Beyonce creating a country album makes so much sense. She was born and raised in Houston, Texas, so country is in her blood. She already made a country song called "Daddy Lessons" and even performed it on CMA. But, due to horrible people, it got taken down. She has never looked as happy performing as she did during that performance. Since she has already made Grammy history, it's finally time to prove all of those haters wrong and make an album so amazing, the CMA crowd will have no choice BUT to acknowledge her. I seriously can not WAIT for this album. I haven't been this excited about a Beyonce album since B-Day!!

@@desokie257 the comment implies, you must be all about country because you are born in a certain state. Just because I am born in Kentucky does not mean I am a certain way. To me it makes no sense that she made a country album. That doesn’t mean I dislike the song ,it just means I don’t see her as a country artist. Also saying she has never looked as happy is bull. She has looked plenty happy in other videos. People believe if you are from Texas you are a cowboy or Kentucky a red neck .

Beyonce is doing Blues/Americana which has DEEP African American roots. And she's brought some very special heavy hitters, within the genre, along for the ride to E-DU-MUH-CATE the Folk on the history. ;) We know of Rhiannon Giddens, who I've been following for years, who was playing the banjo on the Texas Holdem track. She's also an INCREDIBLE vocalist and all-around phenom talent. Looking forward to March to see what other significant Black players/pioneers she'll be showcasing.

I found it a wonderful tune that effortlessly allows Beyonce to display her vocal abilities in a song that crosses themes of music, and I love when I can see people reacting simply to the voice and the performance, without any stereotypical biases. Even though this song isn't overly complicated, it still serves as a delightful platform to allow Beyonces inherent vocal talents to shine. Plus, I love it when she performs songs that have a universal appeal, even though it falls into a genre that you wouldn't normally think of a woman of color performing in. This song is an example of how Our collective appreciation of artists should be, without bias for color of skin. Side Note: Swing dancing is fun and its wonderful seeing the comparison you made. I always found that Nashville Swing, had elements of classic swing, mingled with movements from traditional two-step, with a sprinkling of the rhythm of an old fashioned 'reel. Very fun when its organic and performed with confident dancers.

If you're into country music and out of this world harmonies you should check out Home Free. Although they do various genres of music, they are billed as the world's only all male country a capella group. They were the winners of the 2013 season of The Sing Off (same competition that Pentatonix won in 2012. Some of their popular ones include: 1. Man of Constant Sorrow (unbelievable ambient sounds done with vocal percussion/instrumentation). 2. Ring of Fire ft Avi Kaplan from Pentatonix (before he left) 3. End of the Road - Boyz 2 Men cover 4. Helplessly Hoping - pure 5 part harmonies 5. How Great Thou Art - even if you aren't religious the harmonies are mind-blowing. Also 5 part harmonies with no vocal percussion.

the harmonies you mentioned are very reminiscent of classic country circa the 70s ish. honestly the drum beat is maybe the least country part of it and even that fits it so well. there are people who really try to argue that this isn't country, that it's pop but nah. this is so country and it's so GOOD. so much of what she does in this song pulls heavily from older style country (patsy cline, older dolly parton, etc) and it's so fantastically well done that it genuinely makes me want to find a line dance for it cause damn. should be out here in cowboy hats and boots for this.
