As someone who is kinda obsessed with watching NYC apartment videos, and given what you said your weekly rent estimate is, this seems like a pretty good deal tbh. The apartment is well put-together, the in-unit laundry is amaaaaaaaazing, it looks like you're not shoved up against another building so you have good light, and you said you live in Manhattan which is obviously a desirable area. It seems like things are going pretty well, and you won the jackpot for an apartment, especially a first apartment!

Hannah, your apartment is absolutely adorable. You’ve used every inch of your space but it’s so warm as well as functional. I’d put a cool mirror- maybe vintage or thrifted on the wall above your dining table. It would bounce back light from the cut out and make the room even brighter. Can’t wait for your video every Sunday!

Hi Hannah! For the blank wall above the dining room table, I would recommend hanging some type of mirror whether round, rectangular, square shaped. Mirrors always give the illusion that a space is bigger than it actually is! Hopefully this helped :)

For the dining room my immediate instinct would be to have an overhead light fixture. You could hang it a little lower since it’s an eating space and that might help distract from a blank wall and you can move the lamp so you have more table space. Also I’m a recent Penn state grad who just moved to nyc too! I work in architectural design so great job counting brick to scale your space 😂 I know what that’s like I literally do it daily haha I’m obsessed with your space it looks great!

And can we talk about that Schitt's Creek mothereffing art!!???!!! Best thing ever. First video I ever watched. Absolutely loved your peppy and witty personality and of course your style in the apartment! So stinkin cute! How brave to live in NYC your first time away from home! I wanted to comment on what I thought you should do with your blank wall above the dining table. A mirror with a thin gold border and rounded edges is on Wayfair and it would open up your space even more . Also a few trailing plants that could dangle down the wall a little from that open spot at the top between your bedroom and living room would look amazing! 🙏🏻❤️ best of luck with your little life in the city!

Same as over the TV. You can make an open shelf like a bookshelf, you can put 2 planks of wood to the side of your dresser with a criss cross behind the TV to hold them secure and then on top 2 shelves for books or baskets for added storage.

@@HannahElise Thank you! I am SUPER excited! I feel like a superstar for landing it--it's literally in one of the best apartment buildings in my city and has been recently remodeled (the entire building was, apparently). It's 900 square feet, which just feels insanely large to me, and it's 2 bed/1 bath with a full dining room and its own laundry room, and--best yet--it's only $650 a month! The kitchen's small (more of a kitchenette), so I was laser focused on your part where you were showing some of your kitchen stuff. I hadn't ever heard of that board thing you have over your stove, and considering there's pretty much no counter space in the kitchen, I'm already planning ahead to figure out solutions for that. :) It's been an adventure already, and I haven't even moved in yet!

On that empty wall you could maybe do a large modern painting with one or two colors blocked in a simple way so it's a place for your eye to rest while still adding color and charm to the room.

Hey, Hannah! Love your super cute apartment, but hate blank walls! Take yourself to a fleamarket, this summer, and buy a big mirror for over your dining table--or a bunch of little mirrors. It will increase the light in that corner, considerably, and make the room look bigger. Or, hang a large picture in that space...or some random thrift find--an old bicycle or a kimono, something unexpected and colorful! ❤

It's so beautiful!!! Put a large organic shaped mirror on the dining table wall or a wallpaper with soothing colours, nothing too busy!

Very nice 👍🏼 Love ❤️ this apartment. I would suggest, putting the mirror near the doorway, on the wall above the dinette set, to open up the room. A small vase on the dinette, to add fresh flowers and a candle, for good vibes as you enjoy your meals.

Suggestion for 11:25 :)) I suggest you hang a big mirror over it cause it would most likely widen the space. You can also hang a light colored art piece/painting if that's what you fancy😊💖

I like how relatable this tour was. I just moved into a studio somewhere in manhattan too and I'm grateful for the closets!

you could always hang 2 wooden folding chairs from Ikea on the wall by the dining table for additional seating. It would still vibe with the natural wood to the area.

For the dining area wall: Just one, larger but bright simple painting/piece of art or a mirror of a similar size. I'm talking rectangular, 6-8 inches up from the table and below the ceiling and about as wide (maybe a little narrower than the table). White frame or black frame, simple art, no words (will make it feel busy). Without something on the wall, the space is a little empty. i love your style though and your home looks great!

I really enjoyed your apartment tour and you inspired me to do my own. I am I bit older, but I also just moved out and I am living alone, in Spain. Originally from Ukraine, even though I’ve been living here for 11 years. Thank you so much. You are so nice and you have a new follower!😉

I think it be cool to have a neon light in the empty space by the dining table. It’s cute and not to busy.

What a cutie, great personality. Cute apartment. Leave the dining room wall blank / white. Your gallery wall next to it is the focal point in that room with the exposed brick. 🤍😻✌🏻

I think either a largeish mirror or an old window with some greenery on it would be cute for that space above the table. Something open or that creates more light!

Over the dining area, I already see it. You can build a floating 2 tier shelf. Hanging by ropes on each side. If the Landlord let's you put hooks on the ceiling to put the floating shelf to put light stuff like plants, picture frames, ornaments or anything you want but has to be light.
