I moved to NYC when I was in my early 20s and as a very introverted person I really hated it, BUT I don’t regret giving it a try and honestly it’s made me feel so much more certain about what I want in life so it was 100% worth it. I hope you love nyc and can’t wait to watch you explore!

In the US build-in closets are kind of a necessity, here in holland almost everyone has just their own closets that we buy, and aren’t build in the house. We also buy laundry machines ourselves when we rent or buy a house

Well in america, we are not able to put in a laundry unit to do our laundry in certain apartment buildings because they don’t have the hookups needed for a washer or dryer. It’s kind of sad honestly

I loved the #2 apartment! The closet space, layout, windows, lighting, updated appliances, wash/dryer in unit and exposed brick were so nice. I also felt that it had almost all the necessities.

One thing I never imagined was how hot NYC is in the summer! First time I visited was in June (a few years ago) and thinking that it wouldn’t be as hot as Tennessee. It was hotter! Apparently there’s a lack of wind because of the buildings. Crazy the things you don’t think about

I love for you to get an apartment in Chelsea, i really love that neighborhood and the high line and market are always so fun to hang out! As a side comment, I’m from Santiago, Chile. When i moved to nyc I was very into getting a north-facing apartment, because that’s what you look for in chile to get a lot of sunlight in winter. Later I realized that you should always go for the south-facing ones (in winter, living in an apartment with a north-facing window). So, remeber to always think about the changing seasons when apartment hunting, kids!

I plan to moving to NYC in 2 years. And have been going back and forth myself with the possibility. Since I'm a pretty indecisive person. Even though I've been wanting to move to the city since I was sixteen. But I plan on visiting the city for 2 weeks, this summer. To see if I truly like the city, to make my decesion more 'final'. So its reassuring to see someone else have the same worries.

THANK YOU for actually explaining the "application documents/process". A LOT of the (actually all) of the apartment touring videos I have watched on here literally always skip that part. When it's actually the most crucial part and helps other fellow viewers that may be getting their first place or eventually will, have the knowledge about how it works and what's needed and just basically how to be prepared. That is SUPER important to be educated on. It's not like they ever teach it in school lol So, again thank you for explaining it!

So proud of you! I’m a few years older than you and when I graduated college I moved to NYC with my partner because he got a job offer there. It was a crazy experience, and I pretty much knew I would never live in NYC again but I’m still so happy I had the chance to try it out. We left after a year but it will always be in my heart. My experience was very unique because we were fresh college grads living in UES no roommates, so our experience is not common, but I still recommend my younger family members to travel and move out and try new cities if they are able to. I hope you enjoy NYC!

@@HannahElise Yes it is! It’s also crazy the difference in experience you get depending on what neighborhood you live in. My partner and I lived in UES so we didn’t get to experience the nightlife as often if we lived in anywhere below downtown, as that is where most of the nightlife is. Our neighborhood was very family style, quiet, lots of schools, and we did not have many young neighbors, it was mostly families or older people. I know my partner wished we lived in LES or in that area when we were living there because we could’ve gone out a lot more since more things stayed open later (our neighborhood in UES was pretty dead after 10pm, things closed, so if we wanted to go out after we had to take the Q to go downtown, which was a trek). I’m so excited for you and cant wait to see your NYC videos!
