I'm actually so blown away by how cheap everything looks at Harrods and Liberty... TONS of the decor items sell here in Canada in dollar stores or bargain bins. The stitching is bad, there's visible glue, paint that doesn't line up with the figures.. I expected these department stores with their luxury prices to have luxury items, but so much of these are mass produced very cheaply. Their profit markup must be outrageous. I'm just shocked lol

Loving all the new Holiday vlogs Hannah, I always take time to make a cuppa (as my gram would say) and settle down to watch all the glorious bits and bobs out for the season. The Tudor design of Liberty makes me just giddy and hopefully, someday, my sis and I can make the trip. I smiled reading your comment. I am remembering the fun I had 11 Christmases ago with my two ferral kittens. They loved climbing up the inside of the tree and then about 3/4 o the way up they would peek out at me. Now the boy is way too big to climb and his sister just sits under the tree. I have to admit to being a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to colors for Christmas…red, green, gold, silver, white, and then some checks and plaids. But, the Liberty purple was quite nice. Your Christmas red nails look fantastic and your countdown to Christmas is making me a little less of a humbug (love the season, not the crowds). Our tree is mainly purple and gold. We have this Christmas shop in Michigan (Bronner's) and one day, once we'd stepped in, I declared "We should have a theme tree!" My husband immediately agreed and said "Purple and gold!" It's the colors of his favorite (American, professional) football team and I agreed. I think we were both surprised: me, that he'd agree and him, that I'd agree on the colors.

Loving this, Hannah! Prior to moving to Australia, I worked weekends & holidays while at school & uni., at Liberty. I did Scarves, Homeware & Gifts over the years, plus a spell in Finance! There used to be a bridge to the Regent Street Store where Liberty Print fabrics, blouses & shirts were sold, also Church's shoes. Even as temps, we got 60% discount and an in-house, interest-free charge-card, so I still have a rare collection of discontinued shirts & shoes! {I offered an acquaintance an intro to my ex boss [a fashion-buyer] but they were uninterested. Some people, huh?} After retiring from his career, my dad worked F-T for a few years in the Oriental 'Magic' Carpets dept., situated around one of the 'wells', as we called them. He had a passion for and was an expert on such rugs! There was a Penguin bookshop, great for a student, and don't ask me about the perfumery! I even bought my first crush some fashion jewellery, there:all at a discount, of course! The Liberty family lost its controlling interest in the business some time ago and I'm not convinced that the old, eccentric Englishness and genuine global diversity is as it was. C'est la vie. But your video brought back many fond memories, such that I can smell the polished wooden panels by the staircase. The title you give this work is well-deserved. Goodonya! Victor.

Oh this got me in the mood! I'm one of those people who enjoy decorating. So I have a fake tree in bedroom plus all the decorations around the house since Dec.1. The felt decorations are my favorite, too. Needled felting is a craft associated with where I live, so I’ve taken advantage of several classes and make some ornaments for special people. (It’s a fiddly process, though. I wouldn’t sell any of them for £13-15!!!)

That iridescent look in the peacock themed area, we also call that "oil slick" finish. I really love the cloisonne look too. Oh that calendar with the deer is beautiful!! Like you, Hannah, I adore decorating for Christmas and I go OTT every year. I am actually going to start today to decorate my mantelpiece and other touches in my living room/kitchen before I haul the Christmas tree out of the Archive de Shame (my packed out basement). I start now as you say you need to get value for effort. It takes me AGES to decorate the tree and I love it. Usually some tipple goes along with the placement of the ornaments. I love Liberty’s. My first visit to England and London from Canada was in 1975 when I was 24. Yes, I am THAT OLD! Liberty’s was at the top of my shopping list. My mum loved Liberty’s patterns and it was a must. Those are the days when you entered its hallowed Elizabethan halls, you immediately lowered your voice for some reason. Those were also the days when all of the clerks wore tasteful black and stood attentively at the side of the room waiting politely to help you. I bought the 100 year anniversary iconic peacock patterned silk scarf that is enormous and cost £60 in 1975. Can you imagine. I was a student and could barely afford it but I HAD TO HAVE IT and I am so glad I bought it. I recently had it mounted with a frame under glass to preserve it. It cost a king’s ransom to have it done, hundreds of dollars but it looks great. Those were also the days when they devoted a WHOLE ROOM to silk scarves. I don’t think I saw any when last I was there. Oh dear. I have gone on! Sorry! We all enjoy your videos and explorations in the City, especially at this time of year. Thanks, Hannah!
