My uncles, father and I have this tradition where, before we go hiking, we eat this traditional Lebanese breakfast, one of the staples is Foul(if you pardon the pun) which is basically mashed fava beans. Aside from it being a very wholesome and nutritious fuel source for hikes, it incentivizes us to keep pace because the last thing you want to be is downwind of Fava Farts.

I feel like the mushiness can be mitigated by the fact there are actual sausages out there that are mushier in general. Take Boudin for example which I think also has liver. One of my personal favorites and a Cajun special! Edit: I saw a comment earlier with an excellent idea for Halloween, do serial killer last meal request sausages. In the original novel of "The Silence of the Lambs", Hannibal Lecter doesn't drink Chianti with the Census taker's liver, but instead Amarone. Amarone is frequently paired with offal, such as Liver, and also with Hunted game. The choice for chianti is because chianti, fava beans and liver all interfere with MAOI drugs which tell that Hannibal isn’t taking his medication. It’s a hidden hint.
