Yes, and also HER comment about observing male relatives all around them "going to jail" --- um... *maybe*, there is somethng "rotten" in that culture and its "accepted" behavioural standards for MALES. As I read somewhere, when people get older and THINK on it, they find that stereotypes are almost ALWAYS based on TRUTHS, no matter how unpleasant/ unpalatable that seems. Although I have no direct experience with the culture, and watch these & other videos to learn MORE about it, and I watch & appreciate the burgeoning travel - life culture (in vans, trailors, tiny-houses, etc.) that they have DEFINITELY influenced & impacted GLOBALLY, and appreciate the incredible physical beauty of so many gypsies, I ALSO observe that the prejudices against the gypsy community "seem" to be proving to be based on observed "Truths". His comment about "just don't get caught" says much. I have been watching these vids for a while trying to learn of the culture, seeing their magnificent weddings, and have been distressed & commiserated over venues not wanting to rent to them if they are gypsies. "They dislike us and don't trust us for NO reason", and yet (they/ gypsies ) "lie, cheat & steal" (but just don't get caught), often seem to have huge brawling drunken fights & destroy others' property, but "(they/ gypsies) are "the innocent victims" and unfairly discriminated against. Hmm. Yet, they see to NEVER examine their own actions, or relate their personal behaviours to group consequences. "Good Catholics"? Right. SMH. I am glad for her that she doesn't have to go into "purdah"/ isolation, and I truly hope that HE (and other gypsy males) will change their ways to those of honesty & integrity. There is room in this world for ALL lifestyles that do NOT harm others. Personally, I am REALLY attracted to a travelling lifestyle, though one NOT of theft or dishonesty. Just my opinion. Oh - and BTW, when I was teaching in China, years ago now, I realized that I was not only representing myself/ my parents/ my family, but ALL Westerners/ Caucasians, and tried to always keep that in mind in everything I did. I wanted to leave Good Will for others who came after me. Perhaps something for "their group" to think on...? Cheers, and Best Wishes, to All.

Something really interesting I’ve noticed with a lot of these follow ups is that most of the husbands have served time. Particularly for theft of some kind. Most of these guys have it drilled into them from the time that they’re toddlers that as a man your goal is to provide for your family at all costs, and if you can’t you’re essentially worthless. Considering that and that (from what I’ve heard) travellers do sometimes get discriminated against at their jobs, to the point that many of them don’t disclose that they’re travellers so they don’t get fired, it makes sense that A LOT of these guys turn to crime. I’m not condoning committing crimes obviously but it does make sense that this is the path that they end up going down.

@@sagewowomg But the community is WHY they have limited education! The girls don't actively learn in school because they know they are going to leave anyway. How does a 15 year old not know how to read, write or do basic math, things that are learned before the age of 10? And that's pushing it! Same with the men. If they encouraged staying in school and graduating, then they could have a better way of life that doesn't involve theft. Not to mention they can spend these crazy amounts on wedding, which should be going to living expenses. And travelers aren't discriminated against for simply being travelers. Most Irish traveller men have their own or go into their family businesses. Usually construction or landscaping type jobs as a lot of employers would not hire them. But then here's Brendan breaking into people's homes to steal and laughing about it which cements people's views and opinions. I feel sorry for this girl though, he seems like a right dickhead

You cant be discriminated against if you apply for a skilled job and you have no marketable skills. Travellers do not fit into the conventional educational system. Its not because there is not finance, incentive or opportunity there. They are just stupid, they cannot keep up with the harsh curriculum and refuse to do the work. Who want to employ someone who cannot learn skills in a short time.
