yes! i love the breakdown of the original battlefield technique when he shows the jujitsu response up a weapon - in this case, overheat katana strike

This very well might be the last of them...it was only this and osoto-gari that we had filmed twice. I have dozens of other techniques filmed that I need to get around to editing down.

These videos are so awesome, thanks for sharing them. And the sensei seems so knowledgable and humble and calm.

Thanks for watching! We had to ask Riki sensei for YEARS before he agreed to let us film any of his classes, and it's been nearly three years of work to get the quality up to this point. We're never going to monetize the channel or sell these videos or anything, we just want to spread good judo as it was taught to Riki sensei. Please share so that knowledge can reach more people!

@@RikiDojoUSA Well I'm glad he agreed! Thank him for me, this is probably the most useful judo channel I've found. And I love the way you seem to look at judo. A lot of people want to commercialise it, to make shiai the most important aspect, I don't think it should be, personal development and mutual benefit is the most important part, in my opinion. And thanks to all the students as well - it's great to see how each person adapts a throw for themselves

It so happens that the supposed leg version is sharper and better. It's really supposed to an Uki Goshi with a leg sweep. My teacher's teacher was one of the originals 10th Dans.

Riki sensei actually told us about soto-ashi-harai during this harai-goshi class, but that got left on the editing room floor.

I made some of the mistakes you named, harai goshi is my favourite koshi waza and took me a lot to get the feeling because of that tsurite hand feeling weird and trying to go too low like in some other techniques. Also is way easier to do harai goshi with a high grip instead of classic kumikata but I leave that for randori or a tournament. Thanks for sharing.
