Correction: The memes are from 2004-2007. This map was originally made for Counter Strike Source in early 2007 for the 4chan Partyvan. Xenon eventually ported the map over to TF2 a month after its launch. In regards to the loose pixels: That's likely from the conversion over to a vtf/vmt file. It's a bitch to screw around with in regards to transparent images.

When I was in a harbl server, I had fun putting sentries under the elevator, flooding the map, and capping certain points to stir chaos. Plenty of good times were had. And I should point out that another way to stop the flood is by hitting the flag at the very top of the hotel.

I don't think anybody will ever see this message, as it is lost to time. This map was my childhood. Like shit. Harbl Hotel was a map of amazing discoveries. Finding hidden rooms, doors, even though me being 11 and seeing a half-naked succubi wasn't very good for me, I still love this map. I don't know why, but after leaving TF2 for several years, I reinstalled it, only to find the harbl hotel server to be gone from online matchmaking. It was very sad when I came back, feeling nostalgic about listening to Queen "Don't Stop Me Now" while people ran at each other with guns, it was so much fun. Man, if only I could remain in those times..

4:55 so THAT'S why one of Red's floors has a blank wall in it! I just played this map on a "Team Fortress 2 Classic" (the mod for TF2 that came out july 2020) custom maps server and gosh I thought I had explored the whole thing, there's so much stuff I missed! Especially glad to see there's another way up the outside but I wish it were more clearly marked. At one point a Red Sniper tried to hide in one of the vans when I was a Scout running around trying to look for a way in. I guess he didn't know how to move it either which is too bad, it would've been insane to see that van suddenly start flying away.
