@@hard2hurt if self defense weapons only have a marginal impact most of the time why were you crying during the test hahaha think the whip might be better than marginal...
@gesshugh99765 жыл бұрын
@@jamesrowlands1943 The amount of damage a weapon can do doesn't necessarily translate to practice self defense. For example, take a pencil. You could jam it in someone eye, or even their throat. In a controlled environment, you could easily kill someone with that pencil. But if I handed you a pencil and put you up against Jon Jones, your probably going to get the same ass kicking you normally would, but he'd be extra pissed off because of a surface cut and a nasty splinter.
@jamesrowlands19435 жыл бұрын
@@gesshugh9976 my comment was actually just poking fun at icy Mike for crying during the test. However It's unlikely that someone like Jon Jones, with his skillset, would put someone in a self defense situation. I could go up against Jon Jones with a gun an still get my arse kicked, so that point is fairly moot. How often have people been attacked by someone with that level of training, most arseholes who attack people usually can't fight properly.

Hey guys, I just came across your stuff, and am enjoying it a great deal. I've got a comment about the self defense cable whip though. I carried and used a variation or two of this some 40+ years ago, as street fighter in my early thru late teens. My first iteration was simply a staighted out wire coat-hanger. I would either coil it up in a coat pocket or back pants pocket, or run it thru the belt loops around my waist. It was easy to deploy, and could be tossed without being too obvious. The the biggest drawback was that if blocked by a hard rod such as a tire-iron, it would wrap and he defender could easily take it from me. That led to using a 24-30inch long bike lock cable, much like what you were demoing. I prefered the kind with the small loop on each end, with an aluminum tube swaged on to connect the loop. I'd cut the loop off one end, just past the alum piece. This carried much more force than the coat-hanger, and was too thick to wrap and be yanked away. Interesting to see the idea being commercialized. You guys did a great job testing them. I'll be watching your stuff often.

One of my concerns with these types of weapons is the meth head scenario, where pain deterrence isn't super reliable; but I'm wondering if this level of energy, focused on muscle groups, goes beyond pain and into involuntary, muscle spasm territory, like a taser. I'm also not convinced that at 100% this wouldn't flay skin off.

I mean ya if you have to hit hard to stop them you can probably cut them pretty bad.

If I own this product and feel like I have to swing 💯 in self defense. I’m hoping for possible broken bones and deep contusion, skin break just comes with the territory. I mean how many times have you fallen and got cuts or scrapes that bleed good, but didn’t slow you up or hurt all that much. What’s important is stopping power that’s still non lethal.

You won't do any real damage with the whip beyond a scarring flesh. However the handle has a glass breaker build in, so you could kill someone if you had to.

Yeah actually keeping the cutting edge facing the correct direction is not a natural movement for most people and it is important when using this weapon even though it's not a blade
