Ooh. If you want some more unique manga recommendations, there is an amazing series currently coming out called Blood on the Tracks, it’s a psychological thriller/horror and it is genuinely chilling. Some big trigger warnings though for violence against children and severe depression and psychosis. I also recommend Beastars. Think Zootopia, but way more realistically political with a man character who is a soft wolf boy. It’s a little lighter than Blood on the Tracks, but very very fleshed out world and characters.

I just bought the entire collection of Death Note too! I watched the anime many many years ago but I wanted to read the manga to see what it's like. I've watched anime since childhood, but I've never been into reading manga and recently I've been getting into it. P.S. Your assumption about what Death Note entails is correct haha 😂
