Old International is pretty cool, dig those cab lights styling. Jeep looks like it will come together quickly and be bad azz! Nicest part has to be gteat all the room in that new shop, different seeing so much open space for you to move around when working.

That jeep will be mean. That old load star brings back memories. Our neighbor in Kentucky had a blue one with white stripes. He had a big dump bed and used it to haul coal to provide for his family. Sweet project. How is Julie? Praying for her.

Love the jeep! I don't know why you would get rid of the frame on the loadstar. Looks like a cool addition to anything you would build. Mike
@HardCoreFab2 ай бұрын
@thercbarn5001 If you wanted to build a heavy hauler, that would be the frame to use. I would guess that one weighs in at a ton for just the bare frame rails. I don't need anything like that.

Hey Anthony, That Jeep is going to be suicidal with that engine. But that is why we build some of our toys. That Corn Binder cab really is clean for a truck of it's age. What was the truck built to do with that frame ? I have an "R" model Mack cab that will sit on a custom built frame. I have a 1953 Buick straight eight for power to the one ton dually rear axle. I have an RV fifth wheel which will carry the custom built trailers. Hope Julie is resting easy. See ya in the funnies.
@HardCoreFab2 ай бұрын
I think the binder was a dump truck. The mack would be a fun project!

Just out of curiosity. Since you mentioned, handle like a vette. Have you ever considered using a corvette rear differential / suspension ? C4 model 44... ? Older model 36 ? Independent monoleaf .... ? Just curious as I remember years ago it was a popular choice in old hotrods.
@HardCoreFab2 ай бұрын
Good question. So a few things with that. He had the Dana 60 already. The Vette rear would be harder to bag, and I'm not sure it could hold the HP and heavy wheel and tire combo.
@ronthompson23662 ай бұрын
@HardCoreFab That's true I didn't think about the airbag suspension... and understand that he already had the other. I would be interested know if it could hold up to the horsepower figures.... I do remember a lot of old hot rods built using one. But i greatly appreciate your response, thank you.
@HardCoreFab2 ай бұрын
@ronthompson2366 It's all good. I'll be the first to admit that i don't always think of everything, so... I'm sure the C4 rear could hang for a min, but the super swampers and bead locks are 2 or 3 times the rotating mass as the wheels and tires on most hot rods. That's probably a bigger factor than the 500-ish HP

That aftermarket susp looks cool. Trouble is getting replacement parts. They won't exist in 5 years. Speedway sells offshore junk. Rat rods are cool because of OEM parts hacked together. Throwing money at a project isn't whats cool. "Rat rod engineered" is what people are impressed with. Not store bought cool.
@HardCoreFab2 ай бұрын
I don't see any of the wear items being to big of a deal to replace. They are all pretty common parts. Every thing from here on out is all going to be custom one off stuff so don't worry there will be loads of fab and engineering.
