@@Hexinvir Swedish (and most non-american) names get butchered all the time. :) Chelios pronounces the name as PeTersson, with one T, while Elias is actually PeTTersson. It’s pronounced Pet-ter-son, where the first Pet is similar to the word pet (pet the cat).

@@toskivi1283 wrong. It's Pet-ter-shon, not son, and there's no "pit" at the beginning. Some of them pronounce his first name wrong too. There's no "e" at the beginning and "i" in the middle. Correct: El-e-yas Pet-ter-shon.

@@jrc01718 In the early 60s, I believe. Some doubt the radar, but radar has been accurate for many, many years. If your never saw his shot live or on TV, you missed something. Goalies of that era often would say they all they saw was a blur.

According to ESPN Stats & Info, Elias Pettersson won the NHL Hardest Shot at the All-Star Skills Competition. His 103.2 MPH shot is the 2nd-fastest by a forward all-time behind Steven Stamkos at 103.9 in 2016. A Swedish-born player has now won two years in a row (Victor Hedman won last year).

I ditto this. Petey on radar last year had 102.6. They switch technology and he only got 103.2. Fully expected him to be higher than this. His SHL shot recorded once was 105.

I don't think he ever had it. 5 or 6 past hardest shot contests for him. That's 10 or 12 cracks at this. He hit over 100 mph only once in all those attempts.
