Me and my missus met Rus once in Bristol. He was so warm and friendly, my lasting memory is that he had a really strong aroma of wild garlic around him. My missus talks about him nearly every day and this was years ago that we met him. She says she wishes I was more like him; shorter, gingerer, harder and most of all that I smell more like wild garlic. Love from me and Julie (if you could say hi to her you’d make her year)

I've always heard in books and seen in TV how incredibly friendly and welcoming Africans are, but this really goes to show. Russ is just a minor minor local celebrity, but they welcome him with such open arms. Really pleasing to see. America used to be like this in the 40s and 50s too apparently, but in present day it feels cold in comparison. Loved this one.

My mans probably got a life back home and hes dedicating a big chunk of his year to this for you lot to sit in bed and be entertained and this is how you repay the man. People got no idea about the exercise of separating behaviour and character. Even if you don't like how the bloke talks or acts on camera ,or whatever the problem is, you can at least have the decency to identify that he's a lovely man, a supporting friend, a team player and a massive catalyst in this.
