Incredible series.. .I am in Myrtle Beach SC all sand.I have little trick I do to help riding in the sand,.,if you slow down your engine brake will dump you.. So what I do is to ride in a higher gear so the engine brake does not engage and dump you. Give it a try..I have told this to Brock before/// I am 66 and still going

What a scene, amazing back drop. Love what you said about your skill set. Push it, grow from the experience, have stories. I have to admit though, not a trail I would have chosen on the bike. One I would have taken my Jeep on though!

You know Joe this series is one of the best I’ve seen. What a great show of grit and riding skills. The entire group of riders did their self proud. I wish you all the best in your future travels. I hit the gym to keep up my strength and ride a Tiger 800 and like you say forget the couch. Will be 80 in 2 years no plans to slow down. Chasing the rabbit will keep you young Joe, you did yourself proud on this trip. The best I’ve seen! 🤩

Great to see you having a good ride on the WRT. Utah is full of great adventures...glad to see you enjoying them. As to your WR250R, if you ride much sand and silt, try some Goldentyre Fatties. You will never look back and you might even start searching out the soft stuff. Cheers from N. Utah.

Great job on the rocky climb! That bike tractored right up. I think I would have had to use more speed than I would be comfortable with, or be better at slipping the clutch on a DRZ400 with stock gearing. That sandy section has me again pondering an electric front hub for bikes (and about how late season churned up roads are tough.)

I was riding a loaded down DR650 solo earlier this summer on the white rim and decided to turn around at the first large sandy hill in this video. I had to lay my bike down to drag it around on the trail. I got it up and was riding back when I dropped it in another deep sand pit. "When you drop your bike, it really zaps you". True that. I managed to drop it a third time before I rode up and out of the switchbacks to ride another day. I'm a 64 yo cancer warrior and it was a hot day. It looks like the next mile more two from where I turned around would have been the most technical. If I only had somebody to help lift my bike. I should have left my camping equipment at my campsite. Live and learn.

When you’re in deep sand like that and trying to gain momentum, start in second. Rev the engine as you rock the bike back and forth and as you rock back forward drop the clutch. Do not feather the clutch.

I am a street rider of same age looking for more ADV info. Do you have a video of gear choices ? From boots to camping gear to navigation.
@jrdepew2 ай бұрын
I do not. There are plenty on KZbin I'm sure. I would go with stiffer good protection boots. I prefer separate body armour from clothing. Jersey over that and not heavy hot jackets with built in armor. Same for pants. A little research should find plenty. Same for camping and luggage. You will enjoy ADVENTURE riding.

I did the White Rim solo this year in 4.5 hours or something like that. This video is really going to scare away people from doing this ride if they watch this video first. I am not discounting your experience, but I do not feel this route is as tough as the video portrays. With that said, I was on a small bike and I would not recommend solo on a big bike unless you weigh the risk appropriately. Otherwise, thanks for sharing your experience!
@jrdepew2 ай бұрын
That's very fast for sure. A group creates more challenges and we started from Moab and did too much dallying early on. Actually there was only short sections that were tough, especially on bigger bikes. I've heard of 8 hrs before though and I would do it again with 1 or two others. You make a good point.

You're bitching about people sitting on their couch(watching your youtube), I've rode that trail, no it's no picnic but you chose it, there are no medals at the end, you have your story to tell but I find it ironic that you want people to watch your vid and then you make fun of them.
@jrdepew2 ай бұрын
Totally missed it . I pointedly said that if a person CRITICIZES riders who like us are having a tough go of it as not having the proper skill set and not planning properly THEY would be wrong. An adventure is just that when things get challenging and plans don’t work out. Sorry you mis understood.
