As a space cutter myself, it's a great idea, but, instead of doing from the other side, you do from the inside, if you want basically blow a hole to access the crawl space if you don't want to cut into the crawl space from the inside.

So lemmie see if I get this straight: Ships come in to the salvage yard fully pressurized, which is already something to go 'wat' over. Then, in order to depressurize it, you have to enter the ship where the only way to depressurize the interior of the ship--presumably the passenger cabin or cargo bay--is to hit a button _on the inside of the ship in a place anyone can reach?_ And then you still have to cycle the airlock to _depressurize_ the ship? So seeing as the protagonist is a corporate indentured servant working off a billion-credit debt and the other capitalism-run-amok black comedy aspects, I'm going to assume that this is part of that. Because that is some _baffling_ engineering and operations procedure.
