I've had the DG-87 for roughly 3 years now. One of the front fans and the top fan are finally starting to go out. Front fan has to be hand-started every time I turn the computer on, and the top fan is making a plastic rattling sound. They lasted long enough. The case is great otherwise, new computer parts are going into this case again, probably going to use it forever.

This case is so beautiful! If you are going for a themed build or don't like the mirror at the front or the glossy plastic piece, you can wrap or paint them to match your theme. I think EVGA did an excellent job.

Despite its size and weight. I love the design and features. I like the built in fan controller and cable management options and most of all, it looks badass. EVGA has always been a good brand and THIS is my next case. I also like the Glass with the EVGA Logo but I will be changing that LED color to Red to match everything else. All red LED's everywhere. Fans, Rad, CPU, GPU, and RAM. All Red. Can't wait to get mine at Christmas.

"I dont like the mirror, but I like tempered glass." lol, that stuff reflects almost as bad as well.. mirrors! "It could have had space for a 4th fan in the top" No it couldn't, it would be hanging over the backplate. It merely looks bigger because a door covers the I/O section, a normal case would need open space instead. "The grommet for the cables doesn't work." Well you're using the case wrong! Its meant to have its broad side against the wall, thats the whole freaking POINT of this case! "It has no 5.25" drive bays." I for one am glad there finally is a good case that doesn't waste space and materials on obsolete optical drive bays. You claim it offers no space for fan controllers or reservoirs.. have you actually looked at the case? It already HAS those things, specifically designed and built in! And how does the basement have space for it? Its completely filled with drive cages and PSU and likely a pump. I usually like your videos, but this review was not very well thought out, or atleast you didn't see the logic behind most of what you complained about. It felt like you were reviewing an airplane fully believing it to be a submarine.

@SvenOkonomi 8 жыл бұрын
Jeremy Clarkson It needs to be big to house all the good stuff. Not that an ignorant fop like you would know good gear even if it hit you in the head. You're apparently too stupid to grasp why this case makes sense, since you spew the same idiotic shit over and over again. "Durr my phantom my phantom." You're just crying because you cant afford an adult rig. Go back to putting hotwheels stickers on your mouse or something, I honestly dont give a shit about your opinion on facts.

Just ordered this case a couple days ago from EVGA. Got the DG-86 cause dident need the buttons for a fan controller. I lucked out too, it FINALLY went on sale down to $219.00 so I grabbed one! Cant wait until next week when it arrives!! Dident want to spend that much, but then again, my last case, the Thermaltake Armor (Which is also MASSIVE) cost me $269.00 so I guess thats a good thing... I for one love the look, and the massive amount of space really appeals to me. I fell in love with it as soon as I seen EVGA release info on it...

This or the meshify c? I really appreciate this case and it's looks, it also has pretty good airflow from what I can see and I love the mirror at the bottom. The meshify c is obviously more stealthy and compact and has a tessellated front mesh that I can appreciate a lot as it gives great airflow My specs: Cpu: I7 8700k Gpu: rx vega 64 lc (please don't suggest the 1080 or 1080ti. They're more expensive here than the vega 64 lc and would require me to buy a more expensive monitor to fully utilise the g sync unlike freesync which is much much cheaper I already know the power draw is high but the gpu is more than enough for games at 1080p 144hz) Psu: seasonic prime 850w Titanium 80+ Titanium, fully modular Ram:16gb 3200mhz g skill trident z non rgb ram Cpu cooler:corsair h115i 280mm aio Monitor Samsung C24fg70 1080p, 144hz, va panel Motherboard Asus strix z370 e Storage:1x 1tb hdd, 1x 2tb hdd, 1x 250gb nvme ssd and 1x 32gb ssd for windows. Extras:2x noctua nf a14 industrial fans at 3000rpm, nzxt Hue + phanteks rgb halos for the noctua fans Keyboard: hyperx alloy fps Mouse: logitech g502 spectrum Theme: Red, Black and White Use: mainly gaming and some light content creation

I love what they did with the airflow here, FINALLY a case manufacturer that _sort of_ understands the concept of positive air pressure and allows to achieve it through the front of the case where they put the 3 fans - awesome! Now don't quite like the mirror and the display/buttons of the fan controller (can we just have some standard, cross-manufacturer, cross-platform, open source software for these, thank you), and routing of rear I/O cables could be improved a bit, but otherwise I think the case is absolutely amazing and more manufacturers should turn their heads this way with future designs.

Yes but how about a case you can actually put more than an R9 Fury and a a M.2 drive in? mini ITX is great for home theater but no so much for a high end work and gaming computer that require multiple HDDs for storage and a full ATX motherboard for the features you usually don't get on lesser than mATX boards.

Dimitri, I do agree that large cases in sizes like this should utilize 5 1/4 drive bays. Some like me who do video/photo editing have card reader drives and even the DVD burner drives for creating DVD's. And yes even the reservoir for those who would do water cooling.

First off- I've got to say- Dimitri, I am a massive fan of your channel. HardwareCanucks ROCK!!! As for the DG-87 case, I think it's a great looking case. Definitely a step in the right direction at least. Between the RGB revolution and 5-1/4 bays losing favor, I believe it's only natural that the side becomes the new front for PC cases now. But, with that said, I do really like my drive bay fan controllers for that little bit of extra pop, and EVGA surely could have integrated a few into that base panel below the window- which I think could also look really good as well if integrated properly. I've been wondering when a case was going to finally come along to make the side panel the actual front of the case, and even if it's not optimal- at least a manufacturer finally went there. I hope it's a sign of more cases to come in this configuration, and can't wait to see what becomes of it! If nothing else, you at least have to say- for EVGA to just be starting their case line, They aren't afraid of doing something completely different and off the cuff... . much more than can be said for a lot of more well established case makers out there.. .

I don't get it. This is an enormous case and built primarily for people with lots of watercooling. What does the reviewer do? Sticks in an aircooler and moans about the lack of a 5,25 inch bay. Maybe he could have...you know...fitted watercooling? This is like testing a Ferrari racecar and moaning about the lack of space for groceries.

Thank you EVGA for designing such a practical and also a very good looking case. I was originally looking at getting the Be quiet probase 900 but now I think that I will get this one insteed. I think with the easy entry door at the front and sides it will make for easy maintenance of filters and water cooling ETC. The best of luck with the launch of sech a nice looking case. Regards. Hi All. I had a closer look at this case and their are some problems that I have found that I feel should be addressed by EVGA before its release date. 1# The rear door hasn't any noise dampening and I feel that it could be a little flimsy and could amplify the noise within the case. The noise dampening would also help to improve the rigidity of the door. 2# The small plastic sliding door that covers the cables to the power supply is listed as (OPTIONAL) and I feel that for the total cost of the case and the minimal cost of such a small plastic part that it should be includes. Over all I still like the case very much. Regards. Mike

This case was a breeze to set setup my system. Cabling was easy, fan setup and radiator setup was easy. Front panel gives a large temperature reading with easy access to usb, etc.. Overall NICE, glad I purchased it.

The reason you had a problem opening the side panel was because you have to push the lock pin in and press down on the switch at the same time. Simply look at the mechanism, you can break it if you open it like that.

I've actually thought about how great it would be to start seeing cases make it so the window to the motherboard was intended to be the front, but I definitely didn't have this thing in mind. I was thinking more like an H440 that had a second front-cover on the back with a slat on one side for cables.

It's so close to something I've wanted to see in a long time, if only the motherboard was inverted so the IO was at the top, and the PSU was in the middle of the basement, allowing a 360 rad on the left side. That would allow a centre motherboard with a rad an res either side of it. I'm going to invest in one, for a project to see if my plans would work.

I totally agree with you. I'm not a fan of that side mirror side where the fan controller is. Anything that is glossy is a finger mark magnet. I feel that EVGA could have showed more of that angular design on the left side panel. It kinda looks like an old TV when looking at the left side.

Each to their own Dimitry. I really like this case, it has just the asthetics I like in modern technology Although I agree that glossy plastic has no place anywhere on any case ever!

I honestly like the looks as well. However, I do have to say, the price, the looks, the size, the features, and the material of choice of EVGA's largest case to date is actually polarizing compared to something like the Enthoo Primo or the Be Quiet's 900 case. All of which are packed with SO MUCH features that you can't go wrong with any of the three.

im going to be swapping my system into a new case this christmas from a cooler master 932 advanced. im really leaning towards this case for all of the reasons he said he didnt like. i love the size and the look. but i do not like how the basement isnt completely cut off from the main section and because of that im looking at other options. my budget is $200 give or take, needs to support a decent amount of liquid cooling and a eatx motherboard. Any suggestions would be great :)

im running a thor V2 W and i want it for same reason that and and dual 420 rads will make one hell of a custom water loop haters gonna hate on the case but thats just personal opinion and i got mine on pre order so says my opinion of the thing easy

The Crazy Gamer i might just stick with the haf and do the highest end 280mm cpu/ bay res loop i can. either that or i will get a fractal design define s and go super big loop for one cpu and gpu
@kiwiandapple503
@kiwiandapple503 8 жыл бұрын
The Define S is an awesome case & ready for some great custom watercooling for sure. Phanteks their cases are also very good, the Enthoo Pro M, Luxe & Evolve ATX are 3 great cases for custom watercooling. The CoolerMaster MasterCase 5 is also pretty sweet. NZXT H440 is alright, but I prefer the look of the Noctis. I'm not a huge fan of them personally, but have to mention it. They're fairly expensive tho. Corsair Carbide 400Q or Obsidian 450D are 2 okay cases, I again am not a huge fan. Mostly because of the price Inwin 303. An absolutely stunning case and awesome 360 radiator support, enough for even an SLI + Haswell/Skylake CPU custom loop. If the radiator is thick / dense enough! It's a bit of an outsider, but worth a look.

@SaberSlayer88
@SaberSlayer88 8 жыл бұрын
The Crazy Gamer SMA8 and dg87 are not on the same playing field in anyway. if i had the budget id of course get the caselabs case over the evga case especially for that size of a cooling set up. jaystwcents and singularity computers shows how good you can make a caselabs system. but hey its your money not mine :)

The technology and functionality of the case is fantastic; I feel like EVGA was really thinking about the enthusiast/builder when constructing this. I think that the ascetic of the case is the problem if you give this a brushed aluminum body and a more normal shape and a tempered glass side panel it'd have been fantastic; also a basement shroud...

I know this is a year old but I got one in 2018 and I love it, that said you are right about the PSU the cables have to go around front unless you get those cable extenders which I didnt, the other thing I couldnt connect the front Headset to the mobo and the USB were tight and extended. Other then that the light plastic piece and the over all design doesnt make the case look bad when all is said and done. The size was a shock I dont know why I thought it was smaller despite all the reviews I seen but that said your a big boy so the case looks smaller then it is. lol

I love this case. If you think the size becomes a problem well... I have mine sitting on my college dorm room desk, so don't tell me about lack of space. This case was designed to have the back against the wall. At first I was skeptical, but then I actually did it and I love it. What it lacks in compactness is made up for neatness. I don't like looking at wires hanging out the back of the I/O and GPU. Oh and as far as the EVGA shield thing on the side, just don't connect the power to the white LEDs and it looks 1000% better lol. Also, the "4th top fan" comment the reviewer made was not well thought out. If you were to hypothetically put a fan there then it would be above and behind the I/O shield of the MB, aka, useless.

The I/O panel limits it for me on any normal case. This one is the only one that looks good sitting sideways. Anything else will just have an ugly back end on display when you do that. Thats why I ordered this case.

Looks good to me, but I hate to have to modify a case to fit a blueray burner and multi- card reader. also the mirror bottom section looks as if it would crack easily if you try to drill holes in it to start a cut.

This would make a nice HTPC case under a wide screen TV. Massive amount of space for storage to hold all your videos, music and pictures. Easily fill with some nice older high quality hardware and water cooling equipment. Lots of options if your into modding cases. A 5¼" bay or two would have been nice to have a Blu-ray player for the HTPC. Yup scrap the mirror not liking that at all. I didn't see any air in take in the bottom or did I miss that part?

I think if you have the desk space or just really like showing off the guts of your rig, this is a really cool case, actually. Seems like it has a lot of flaws at the moment, but I like where their head's at. It would be interesting if EVGA or somebody else developed the idea a little more.

I feel like this case would be perfect for a showcase build. Something like a Gamescom booth or something at PAX where you have a demo area which could also feature a great looking PC. I think that's what the form factor / cable routing lends itself towards. Places that host events that are nothing but PC showcases would be great for this since a great build can always be a slightly dulled by peripheral wires running out of the sideways cases.
