People who justify rape should witness it happening to their own kids or a family member.. then only they will know that the victim is not to be blamed. I know for a fact that my husband or my father will not rape a woman even if she walks in front of them naked. But sir (you don’t deserve to be called that), if you can’t control your feelings looking at a woman, you are a week man.. I feel sorry for your mother, wife and your children..

My mans be talking about how the women in the "past" were modest and covered up the necessary parts. Ever seen the sigiriya paintings ? Women in Asia and Africa never had a problem being topless pre- colonization , but colonization came along and hypersexualized Asian and African women while calling us "exotic" and all that nonsense because we were of a different skin color. And when you reinforce these ideas you are doing everything but protecting your culture. Being modest is a choice , not the law. Not raping someone isn't a choice, it's the law. Edit: There are so many comments pointing out that nude pictures are still drawn of different people's sexual partners. But no one shares them explicitly with their partner's faces. What I was trying to say was that the king of the country thought that this picture was okay to be drawn on a wall for all to look at , this means he saw no problem in other people seeing his wives topless. Meaning he never saw this sexual in anyway . This shows that dressing modestly has nothing to do with sexual objectification , as in the present we sexualize nearly ever female body part. So the answer is not to dress modestly but to stop hypersexualizing everything .And I know someone will justify the actions of rapists saying it was the clothes, but studies done by psychiatrists have shown that rapists don't care for what the person is wearing, so don't bring up that point because that doesn't actually have any impact on whether a person is raped or not.

@@abeyshe1021 Exactly , if you want to talk about culture and talk about bringing it back you can't cherry pick . If you do want to go back to traditions , first we should decriminalize being a member of the lgbt+ community as homosexuality was also not criminalized nor marginalized during the pre-colonial times of the island. The traditional legal codes of Sri Lanka did not criminalize sexual minorities or actively discriminate against homosexuals . And then let's not be mad at women wearing whatever they want. These idiots talk about being patriotic and going back to traditions while not realizing what they are going back to is the colonized mind set.

@@violetmaxwell648 No offence, this is simply being inhumane and barbaric. And neglecting human rights. Also, these thoughts of him are going way back from colonized society to an era where women were treated as sexual objects or children making machines.
