One thing is certain. In Europe, HD will not be able to present the Sportster evo model, given that the patent and the presses to produce it are owned by China (Shineray Motor). In Europe the good old Sportster is marketed under the SWM brand and the name STORMBREAKER V 1200. It could only make an agreement with Shineray Motor, and only market it in the USA.

@ Differant Spokes TV: Thank for this video! In Europe and here in Germany the RevMaxes are struggeling, you could say they're failing. I've never seen a Nightster on the road, PanAm sales dropped 70% from 2022 to 2023 alone. 2024 sales must be horrific. The Sportster S is the only model with at least decent sales numbers. I'm hoping I might be misleaded, but I feel the PanAm will fell short against the competition no matter if ADV, with 17s on it or as a "Hooligan" type of bike. People are going to buy GSes, Multristradas and Tracer 9s. And 2025 you'll get the Hornet 1000 for 2/3 (!) of the standard Nightster's price. The Sportster S imight be the only model with realistic potential saleswise. A CVO with the 150 hp high output RevMax and upgraded suspension & brakes could make sense. Regarding the Softail platform I feel we won't see the Sport Glide again. But maybe a revival of the beloved Super Glide Sport / T-Sport ?
@DifferentSpokesTV15 күн бұрын
You're welcome! I love the Super Glide and would love to see a Softail version but the Lowrider S is close to what that bike was so I doubt Harley would put it out. I guess the Tariffs aren't helping Harley in Europe.

Having once worked in a dealership selling European bikes, I know in general the sales margins on units aren't very big. For Japanese bikes, the manufacturer has a lot of control in dealership margins. They aren't very big at all, the majority of profits at dealerships comes from service and parts/product sales. Harley Davidson is a very different animal. I don't have a lot of respect for them, knowing their often ruthless history, their involvement in international political affairs in the Reagan era, their taking down of Alta, their handling of other brands (MV Agusta, Buell, etc). Being they are a powerful corporation, they have finance companies, I have a strong suspicion (but I cannot confirm) that HD gets impressive margins on their bikes and the real suckers are the customers.

Yeah, HD needs a home run and a plan for all the 2024 models still in showrooms. But it appears the entire motorcycle industry is in trouble as Honda, Yamaha, and Triumph all announced they're cutting 2025 production targets due to weak demand and well, then there's KTM. I just don't understand HD price hikes going into this 2025 economy even if Trump "Makes Eggs 99 Cents Again". Hopefully, HD will announce models with real innovation and a "wow" factor but I'm not very optimistic.

Happy New Year and how's the family? When I win the lotto, I may buy a Harley; I've ridden a dozen of so and the only one I like was the XR1200, and now they're worth more than new. Buying a Harley now, a big one, not the "girls bike" is like buying a Rolls-just to show you're wealthy. The Sportster replacements are F**k ugly to begin with and they're out matched by all the other manufacturers in power/weight and suspension. Make'em super "Sporsters"; power, six speed, better looks-like an old Croker or Vincent. What are they thinking? The "working man's bike" is a twenty year old 500-750-ish Japanese bike that, never wear out. Not a Harley any more. (Just a thought, when bikes weren't just toys; late '40's, '50's, '60's; Harleys were always more expensive, but only compared to slightly smaller British bikes; like BSA, Matchless, Triumph, AJS, and so on-Vincent was above the Harley price, and Norton was about equal. However, aside from Vincent, the difference in price was like the difference between a Chevy or a Pontiac-it wasn't that much of a gap. Now they're all crazy expensive, but Harley, living in the 1950's has only one market, super wealthy, for now. Cheers from the Pacific West Coast of Canada.
@DifferentSpokesTV15 күн бұрын
Thanks, we're all great! Yes, they are getting more expensive relative to the competition but it would be cool to see a Black Lightning Sportster. That would get some attention.
@jerryandnancywertzbaugher777812 күн бұрын
Year over year unit sales keep falling and are projected to fall again in 2025. And why wouldn't they? HD cultivated a narrow market niche with a narrow range of bike-types. There's nowhere for those types to go technologically, so they just raise the price every year to make up for fewer unit sales. Toatally neglecting the entry level rider with good standard bikes in the 350-700cc range has finally cought up with them. Now the Boomer outlaw biker vibe is dead. Harley's cruiser fans are aging out of motorcycling entirely; their live expectancy as bikeers will not be extended by offering $30,000 trikes.
