You know when I was a heavy duty mechanic I rebuilt a lot of big power shift transmissions and your idea of the stand is a very smart idea.

Thanks I appreciate it. It saves on bench space and everything is always in the right order. I started using it after the first couple of 5 speeds I rebuilt. Old wrenches like us always find the easiest way to do things.

Thank you so much. Just got the locknuts off and about to do this now. Always helps to see it done first 😊

Hi mate .I'm going to make my own tool for removing the gearbox mainshaft race .I'm wondering if you would be able to tell me the outside and inside diameter of that race bush ? That would be a great help if you could thanks. Your vids are amazing I save every one of them .please keep em comming there great 👍 take care.

Thanks for the question. Unfortunately I don't know the inside and outside dimensions on the race. I don't have one on hand that I can measure. If memory serves the main shaft is 3/4 if that helps. Wish I could be more helpful. Glad you like the videos. Thanks for watching

Hey tinkering, I just had my 04 TC88 grenade at 110k miles. Just picked up an 02 TC88 from a dyna and am gonna be swapping them out. In the process, my original trans(I know the dyna one won’t swap in) had been clunking in third and I’ve heard I can just swap the gearset out so I’ll be doing that. Saves me buying a new transmission and my shift shaft out of the original was shaking like a leaf so I know that was gonna be gone soon haha. Think I got a deal on this one since it’s only got 8k miles on it and some cam work done. Won’t know fully till I’m in there over the next couple of days. Any advice or tips for the whole transmission gearset swap area? Really just want it back to smooth shifting. Thank you!

Thanks for the question Dylan, sorry to hear you puked the engine. But now you have a 02, it's a better motor. It has a timken bearing lower end the 04 didn't, so you have a great deal with a low mileage motor with a better bottom end. Ok the gear set is inter changeable. This is what I would do since you're trans has over 100,000 on it. Use the main drive gear outa the dyna trans since low mileage and matches the gear set. Replace the main shaft bearing and seals, replace the counter shaft bearing in the case and the pawl shifter and seal. You'll have a complete low mileage trans than. Hope that helps you. Hey Clark, thanks for the question. The 1993 should run at 180 F completely warmed up. The sporty I can't tell you, since I haven't touched one since the 70's. Thanks for watching and ride safe.
