Great advice and so true. I find lots more people are hesitant and or fearful to working on their own bikes, even easy tasks of changing fluids or tire pressure. I recently was doing a detailed cleaning of my rear wheel and noticed 3 bolts had backed out on my belt drive sprocket, luckily I found it and added some loctite to them. Doing your own maintenance builds a relationship between yourself and the bike, you get to know its ins and outside, like you say. Thanks for the videos, your great at showing just how easy things are to do and giving people some confidence in doing their own work.

I have a 2000 Road King Classic with the dreaded marelli EFI. Apart from really low rpm when cold starting it runs fine but lately i started hearing a pinging sound coming from the front of the motor it seemed and i freaked out a little thinking the cam chain tensioners had grenaded but they looked fine. was about to start to remove the rocker covers to take a look at the top end when i notice the shifter linkage was all loose so tighten it up and voila pinging sound gone :D Should have watched this video first but will put these points into regular maintainance scedule. Cheers for a great video

The best way to stop your shifter linkage, wearing out or getting loose, get rid of the heel shifter. That’s the number one killer of shifter linkage bushings. Shifters are bad.

shifter linkage and floor boards should have codder pins if they are going to do this crap. i could not believe my eyes when i was riding my first harley down the street, a 2007 road king, and my shifter FELL OFF!! i have owned many bikes over the years and the only other time that happened was when in was riding a 1979 Yamaha 50 cc dirt bike. i like the road king. it is a joy to ride. but that is ridiculous

it just shocks me the way things are designed. I believe they do this so you trade your bike in or buy a new one. it's by design to fail, they should be ashamed but they're paying the price Harley Davidson.
