was dealing with this BS for days. Resistors didnt work, Badlander equalizer didn't work. THIS WORKED, and worked well. Self cancelling doesn't function but i can live with that. The biggest help of this was you pointing out not to wire them in line with the rear lights, but to follow the harness back before it splits to front/rear. I owe you a beer.

Thank you for the video. Simple and easy to follow. I did this mod for my 2004 VRSC and it’s good to go. The relays were a pain to figure out a location, due to the limited space on the vrod. I ended up taking the relay cases apart, and encasing the actual , much smaller relay, in rubber cement. Works perfectly. Thanks again!

The only thing I'd do different is not use solder. If you use a Western Union / Nasa splice and cover with a marine grade shrink wrap. The marine grade stuff is thick and coated with an adhesive the seals the wire. The good thin about not using the solder is the wire remains flexible and relieves stress on the wire. Great tutorial

I got the bike with no signals, I know this is hard to figure out without seeing it or anything, just looking for ideas, I'm new to Harley
@Roger_That_Scott5 жыл бұрын
Ok well let's start here. Do you have a volt meter? The front and rear are on the same electrical circuit. I would say check the fuse box to see if you accidentally popped a fuse when installing the new ones, but I think the front and rear use the same fuse, so if you have power to the rear a fuse might not be your problem, I'd still check though. If you have a meter I'd check for power between the (not used) constant power wire (blue) and the black ground wire. You should have constant power with the key on. Then I would set the DC as low as it could go (20 or so) and hold it to the purple and black while hitting the turn signal button with the key on...see if you show power spikes. If you have nothing. Disconnect the rear turn signals and try the same steps again. If you get power with the rears disconnected you just need the resistors. If you get no power at all with either method and no power at the wires with a meter, with the key on, then you might have a wire shorted out somewhere in the front.

What if i have an led taillight and regular front signals and my right signal works but my left doesnt. It would work every now and then it hasnt worked in a while. Any ideas on that? The left one just dont do anything. And yes i changed the bulb. I know almost nothing about electrical stuff. My dad went to school for it and could do anything. Anytime i needed something wired id just have him do it and that is one thing i wished i had him teach me. I guess i didn't expect to lose him so soon and mow its too late. I learned everything else i know about vehicles from him tho. Thanks in advance if you answer this.

The only downside to wrapping and taping that blue wire is that you will lose that constant running light. I would recommend running the constant wire into the flasher wire but wire in a diode to the flasher wire. The diode will keep your rear signals from flashing because of the constant being wired into the flashing. For folks out there that do not know what a diode is: It's like a raccoon trap. It lets the raccoon in, but not out. The diode will allow the power to go into the turn signal to make it constant but keep it from running back to your rear turn signals and flashing all time time no matter what. The diode let's the power in but not out.

I got a question , if your still answering them lol. I had a box that was connected between the left and right signal ,it was there when i got my 96 sporty but not original , someone before me installed it , well i hada funeral to go to for a fellow rider and was riding with my hazards on and that box cought fire but luckily i got my seat off cut the wires and tossed it before it did any damage .. so i get home and check whats working and whats not , both signals get power but dont blink and yes your fix will work but my question is ,, why do my hazards still blink when i put them on but signals dont and if i do your repair and go to use my hazards are the relays going to catch fire like my out unit did ?
@Roger_That_Scott4 жыл бұрын
To be honest, with out having your bike in front of me, it's hard to say. I can say, that the solution I show in the video cancels out the hazard flash function (not sure why). I also find it odd that whatever that box was, was able to catch fire without popping the turn signal fuse. That's telling me that something was wired incorrectly and/or there is a jumper wire in your fuse box. Or, the previous owner bypassed your fuse box all together. As far as your hazards still working..your turn signals and hazards are on separate electrical circuits. Your hazards will work whether your ignition is on or off. But your turn signals will only work if your ignition is on. It seems like you're going to have to do a bit of wiring diagnosis. I would start with the easiest: Start your bike..turn on one of the turn signals..then pull the turn signal fuse and see if your REAR turn signal goes out. Your front might stay on if you still have the running light function hooked up. If your rear signal loses power and shuts off, the circuit is still intact. If your rear signal stays on with the fuse pulled..someone has bypassed your fuse box and hard wired your signal circuit....which is asking for a fire.

Sorry for so late of a reply. But no, no matter what combination of standard and LED you install (front or rear) the process is the same. All off the signal power comes out of that gray box and goes to both front and back.
