One of the things I could never get an answer to was why Satan was constantly speaking to each and every one of us in a way that we could understand (but not know it was him), while God couldn't even manage a simple "I am here".

Satan speaks to us?? I've always felt..that this fallen angel..was even able to challenge God..Almighty Alpha and omega. And presently is allowed to rule over the entire human race. Endless suffering permitted.

@@dirtypickle77It is rather striking that you are just as literalist as those you criticize. If the story presents Satan as a temptor, then the allegory is rather easily read. So, in that regard does temptation not exist? Have you ever felt a temptation to eat something bad for your health, smoke, or do a drug. Have you ever been tempted to act out unjustly? It is fine to dismiss the literalism, but why jettison the allegory? I would argue that not only does temptation exist, but there seems to be an intelligent and yet unconscious agent in our own psyches independent of our will. The one who smokes the cigarette even when we tell ourselves no, I am not going to do it. The one who acts out, even though one knows it is unwise or unjust. Perhaps personification of the temptor with red skin and horns etc. is a bit over board. But it seems many are unconscious of an agent within outside of our own will. So perhaps there was utility in the personification. But the logic you are insisting on is something akin to: a picture of a hamburger is not really food, so therefore hamburgers don’t exist. This is idiotic. This is insisting that a symbol is the same thing as what is symbolized, that the signifier is the same as the signified.

Fascinating. I am an Italian major & lived in Naples for 3 years, Milan for a year, Tuscany & Le Marche. Loving his Italian connection. My dad was a Navy Cha& I remember attending a charismatic Italian church with another of the Chaplains where everyone spoke in tongues. This was in Naples. Growing up in the military chapel setting definitely made me aware from a young age that there were sooooooooooo many beliefs from the Protestant side….that didn’t include the Catholic side or the Mormons…

Come back again and interview. You have so much inside to share! Ty. Mr. Tim Mills for your channel. Religion (Christianity) is psychological warfare! Yes preterism helped bring me out of Christianity it was one of the things I really held to for a while but then went to Israel only full preterism which basically makes all the Bible worthless and then in the end you realize whether I'm understanding it correctly or not everyone is confused and understanding the Bible differently and if God was so powerful and just we wouldn't have such confusion

Exactly and if god was the creator then why doesn’t everyone believe in him ? According to the bible he should want everyone to believe in his existence but he appears incapable of convincing everyone that he does then punishes all those he can’t convince. It makes no sense.

@@A-non-theist The entire crucifixion scene is depicted in the “skull” bone of this fish. Skull is the name of the location where the crucifixion took place. Fish is the symbol of the New Covenant faith. 27 biblical details of the crucifixion can be seen in this small bone that washes ashore from the native waters where these fish live after they die and decompose. They begin doing this around Passover time each year therefore making them a perpetual memorial. Either God made this fish, or evolution did. The answer should be obvious. “Yet God chose the foolish things of the world so He might put to shame the wise; and God chose the weak things of the world so He might put to shame the strong; and God chose the lowly and despised things of the world, the things that are as nothing, so He might bring to nothing the things that are-so that no human might boast before God. 1 Corinthians 1:27-29 bible

@@A-non-theist The crucifix fish does not prove "Christianity", but it does prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the crucifixion happened. Equally as important, it shows how. The Roman cross came from the Constantine era. Also, God's name was removed from the scriptures almost 7,000 times, and the Messiah's name was changed to Jesus. This too was prophesied: But I was like a gentle lamb led to the slaughter; And I did not know that they had devised plots against me, saying, “Let’s destroy the tree with its fruit, And let’s cut him off from the land of the living, So that his name will no longer be remembered.” Jeremiah 11:19 In my research, Christianity is Roman Catholicism, pretty much all of it. But rather than abandon the faith, I would rather study and learn what lies I was taught and reject those. Believers are instructed to endure until the end, because it is only a remnant that will ultimately be saved.

Let's just say the sentiment likely STARTED the other way around. Just look at the Satanic convention that occurred this year and the Protestants were heckling the Catholics while the Catholics were originally there to sing in ritualistic unison against the free Satanists. Protestants think they are supposed to be physically abusive towards Catholics, like Jesus was to the Temple Jews exchanging the foreign currency so that animal blood sacrifices were only bought with Jewish coin.

And I'm sure the feeling was mutual. Many denominations don't think Catholics are really even Christians. As stated many times before, if God was really real I suspect he/she/it would have done a much better job at communicating which specific beliefs and practices he/she/it requires from us. But silence. Nothing but disagreement and confusion.

I loved this talk. Have you guys ever heard the concept of the ‘egregore’? It exists in different traditions. It’s the idea that human consciousness can create and then sustain a kind of being. Even as a metaphor, this is powerful. After creating the being/thought structure…etc….and going through upgrades and revisions over time….this being now gain a survival power and wants to remain existing and so will prompt the human consciousness to feed it and sustain it. This idea is an interesting lens, through which, to see a belief structure matrix such as Christianity or any other system that protects itself from scrutiny.

God damn lol. This one was body shots the whole way through. He's very articulate. Makes me wish I hadn't lost that bit of brain edge with covid, can still keep the eye on the ball but the ball is kinda fuzzy now haha. At this point I've been an atheist a relatively long time, more than half my life at just over 20 years. Have seen a lot and studied a lot with regard to religion and Christianity, atheism itself. I used to be a lot angrier, which has cooled to some degree - we aren't exactly living in witch burning and inquisition times right now - but we still face incredible challenges because of the intertwined nature of religion and politics. It's clear when you look at the bible, for the subject of LGBTQ, that it was that way back then, but for the life of me I don't understand why people today need to equate entry to heaven with entry to church, and go even further and want barred entry from society. So in a way it's as if we are still living in an extension of the iron age, they this is just how people think, how they are lead to believe, and maybe even to some degree taps raw into the wellspring of the potential for human wickedness, or whatever it could be called. I've felt very demoralized for years, like they are winning the proverbial battles and wars by default, everytime a Christian couple has a child born, they basically hit the ground with a bible in their hands, where as exiting that life and worldview requires dedicated cultivation. In my journey, sort of like you mentioned about the nucleus of these stories being true somewhere somehow, but they've been embellished and plastered over, I think the true histories and the intentions and ideas of the religion are quite beautiful and sentimental. It's ironic, but after enough philosophy, it's almost like I consider atheists the true Christians today, like they have somehow carried forward the true messages and intentions of the bible and the religion. The myth gutted itself for us, dead in our arms, and all that's left is the memory of what was false, and the parts that were true without it. Atheism, agnosticism, whatever else it could be called, is its own advent in history, a sort of inverted religion, where truth can actually be found, and the darkness of the eras not that long ago can finally be illuminated. Anyway, thanks again for all you're doing Tim. It's inspiring to see fresh sets of eyes and hearts covering all the same ground and finding new ways to communicate it all.

It all took place before the Age of Reason (1800) when Thomas Paine and other thinking individuals began to openly discuss the numerous contradictions in the sacred narratives and risked upsetting a theistic society not ready to think on their own.

🐨For approximately six years I have been a Atheist and as I listen to those of us in this community I am shocked to see that I abandoned my faith differs from the testimony of the majority and a lot of well educated men & women don't seem understand the difference between traditional teaching from biblical.😳 For example: There is no teaching in the bible of god sending two bears to kill fourty children. They were all adult males who have yet to be made head of a household and or not married, so the term used for those type ofmen in that culture has been translated in English as "little children", but in reality they were grown men in the attempt to assault Elijah (possibly to beat that elderly man to death). Again, I view all of the world's religions as camp fire stories shared by other cultures and transformed through time.🐨

@TangerineTangerine NO bubble burst here. Just because God can see the end from the beginning does not mean that individuals do not have free will. God is omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent . Your conceptualization assumes there are a limited number of players in the game and that any ONE person or group of persons is necessary to reach a pre-determined outcome and that the players did not (by their free will) write their script prior to entering the game. Have a great day!

@digbycrankshaft7572 I disagree. Even prior to eating the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil- clearly God gave an in depth explanation of His instruction- AND the ramifications of not following the instruction. They knew, for example, if they ate of the fruit, they would surely DIE. The choice was, therefore, made of their own free will. NOT because disobeying God was "wrong"- but because there were CONSEQUENCES that they DID know about, and made the choice anyway 😀

I coukd never sccept how this fallen sngel .was able to challenge Almighty God .Alpha snd Omega. And to this day .us permitted to rule iver the earth and bring such suffering for hiw long? The fallen sngel has equal power to its creator. And afyer the thiusand tears he will be abyssed. He is released again. Game of thrones story. My spiritual discernment has always rejected these teachings. Its horrific the level of suffering. Yet to reject all of this is to suddenly remove all explanation for this anazing beautiful life as challenging as it is. Now I know for sure ..I already knew. My beautiful family are not burning in hell. But, I already knew that. Ex JW ehich has been such a curse in my family. Soul survivor.

Fantastic interview. Question ---> What would you, or anyone reading this, do if Bible God is true in all his evil glory? This sadistic lunatic really is god. What would we do? It's judgment day and we can feel the heat of hell and maniacal Bible God say, "Tim, you blasphemous worm I am going to give you one last chance. Bow, down and worship me." What would you do? What would I do? I know Christians who tell me they don't care what Bible God did in the OT -- he is god. Might makes right. It's like evil in all its permutations is okay with them as long as their god does it. Sheeze.

Contradictions "If Yahweh is not the author of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33) and the Bible is the inerrant word of Yahweh (2 Peter 1:19-21, 2 Timothy 3:16) and if oral tradition was so high-fidelity in ancient times, why are there so many contradictions? Which version of the Bible is inerrant? Did Jesus descend from David through Joseph (Matthew 1:1), or was he born of a virgin mother (Matthew 1:18)? Was Joseph's father Jacom (Matthew 1:2) or Heli (Luke 3:23)? Can you see Yahweh's face (Genesis 32:30), or not (Exodus 33:20)? Was Abiathar (Mark 2:26) or Ahimelech (1 Samuel 21) the high priest when David and his men ate the showbread from the tabernacle in Nob? Did Mary and Joseph flee to Egypt (Matthew 2:1-23), or return to Nazareth (Luke 2:1-40)? Did Jesus die the day before the Passover (John 19:31) or the day after the Passover (Mark 14:12)? Was Mary Magdalene informed of the resurrection by an angel (Matthew 28:5) or by Jesus (John 20:14)? Did Satan incite David to conduct a census (1 Chronicles 21:1), or did Yahweh (2 Samuel 24:1)? Was Jehoiachin eighteen (2 Kings 24:8) or eight (2 Chronicles 36:9) when he became king? Was Ahaziah twenty-two (2 Kings 8:26) or forty-two (2 Chronicles 22:2) when he began to reign? Did Jesus clear the temple at the beginning (John 2:13-22) or the end (Mark 15:11-19) of his ministry? Did Paul's companions hear the voice (Acts 9:7) during Paul's conversion experience or not (Acts 22:9)? Can witnesses be convinced by a risen Lazarus (John 11:38-44), or not (Luke 16:19-31)? Did Gyrus's daughter die before (Matthew 9:18) or after (Mark 5:23) Gyrus asked Jesus for help? Was the paralytic man in a house with a roof of mud and branches (Mark 2:4), or tile (Luke 5:19)? Did Judas hang himself (Matthew 27:5), or did his intestines explode (Acts 1:18)? Did Judas give the money back (Matthew 27:3), or did he buy a field (Acts 1:18)? Is it forbidden to drink blood (Leviticus 17:14), or mandated (John 6:53)? On the day he died was Jesus in Paradise (Luke 23:43) or Hell (Matthew 12:40)? Was Jesus in Hell for 3 nights (Matthew 12:40), or 2 nights (Matthew 27:45-50, Matthew 28:1)? Was the stone rolled away before (John 20:1) or after (Matthew 28:1-2) the women arrived at the tomb? Did the sun rise before (Mark 16:2) or after (John 20:1) the women arrived at the tomb? Did Nicodemus provide the spices (John 19:39), or did the women (Mark 16:1, Luke 23:56)? Did Jesus appear to eleven disciples (1 Corinthians 15:5 Latin Vulgate), or twelve disciples (1 Corinthians 15:5 English NRSV)? Was Jesus taken up to Heaven on the day he met the disciples (Luke 24:51), or did he spend 40 days with the disciples, and then go to Heaven (Acts 1:3-10)? Did Jesus tell the disciples to bring a staff (Mark 6:8), or not bring a staff (Luke 9:3)? Did Jesus come for the Gentiles too (Romans 15:16), or just the Jews (Matthew 10:5-6, Matthew 15:24-26)? Do you get into Heaven based on your deeds (Matthew 16:27, James 2:17), or your blind faith (Ephesians 2:8, Galatians 2:16)? Is everyone who calls on the lord saved (Acts 2:21) or not (Matthew 7:21)? Do you consider the contradictions in holy books of other religions to be good arguments against their claims of divine authority? For example, in Surah 1:1 of the Qur'an, Allah is called most merciful. In Surah 24:2 Allah says to not let pity keep you from whipping people. Do you find this contradiction a good argument against the divine inerrancy of the Qur'an? Hi, I am finalizing a presentation on it that I'm aiming to present in July/Aug. For now, you could look up the appendix in the book "Reversing Hermon" as well as websites like this (I can't vouch for its accuracy) - alaskandreams.net/ekklesia/Book%20of%20Enoch%20NT%20Verses.htm There are more than are listed in those resources, but those might provide a starting point. You might be interested to just read through Enoch as well: parallel.thebookofenoch.info/ bookofenochreferences.wordpress.com/category/the-book-of-enoch-with-biblical-references-chapters-1-to-9/chapter-1/ Again, there is a LOT more of Enoch woven into the NT than these lists provide. But this will give a good starting point.

There are approximately 4,106,717 words in the Bible - - "Using a standard font, the average bible has around 1,200 pages. the OED - The dictionary's latest, complete print edition (second edition, 1989) was printed in 20 volumes, comprising 291,500 entries in 21,730 pages. my point is the OED is merely a list of words , the Bible - "as thick as “The Lord of the Rings” and similar fantasy novel epics , contains history and philosophy, and can be used for spiritual guidance" ... how can a book that you can carry in one hand have so much in it when a not yet complete and up to date record of all the words in english (one language) is 18 times the size ? .... perhaps if you read the OED you will learn more ... 🧐

Ive listen to a bunch of these episodes and the through-line is fundamentalism. I think Tim at the end when you were summarizing you were hitting on some very good points. Most of the stories in the Bible are embellished well they never happened. There was no evidence for the Exodus Jericho who knows and I'm pretty sure that 42 kids were killed by those two bears never happened. My suggestion is to read Karl Barth an kiekegard and for crying out loud dont EVER listen to an American Evangelical!! And i am an American but only cuz I can't figure out a way to get out of this crazy country
