I just saw Safety Last at the Duck Soup Silent Film Series at The Overture Center in Madison Wisconsin. It was joyful to see a house of over eight-hundred patrons screaming with laughter at the finale of this film. Movie thrills without CGI. Laughs without bathroom humor. The great silent comics will live forever!

Totally, awesome! The street scenes are of interest to me as it relates to the street interaction between, streetcar, automobile, horse carriage, and the pedestrian. I didn't see any bicycles, but I bet there were some people riding their two wheeler to work. This is such a treat and education.

I love "then and now" videos for motion picture film locations. This one is very well done. You obviously put a great deal of research into this and it shows. Two thumbs up. well done!

I Love silent movies, and this type of information on where many of the locations of these movies were filmed, and to know that many of the buildings are still standing all these years later gives me such LIFE!

Wonderful! I really didn't know that Lloyd shot his famous films here in LA, I really thought they were east coast. I'm happy locations still survive. It's difficult to find much history in this crazy forward-looking city. Thanks for uploading!

Brilliant, thank you for putting this up, this is great stuff. Its a treat to see how my hometown has evolved from the days of Harold Lloyd and Charlie Chaplin. TCM should do something like this, maybe a short film showing the film locations of other movies, I think many people would enjoy it as well. My thanks to Annette Lloyd (surprisingly no relation to Harold, despite the surname) for doing this piece.

Amazing. I remember seeing Bullocks in one of Harold's films.

Brilliant! Has anyone noticed that the background filming location actually changes during Safety Last! Like another location was used for the climbing up the building and hanging off the clock sequence.

Great video, I love then and now shots. Thank you so much for the upload. Harold Lloyd has 2 stars on The Hollywood Walk Of Fame, both are in the Motion Picture category... at 1501 N. Vine St (m-33) and 6850 Hollywood Blvd. (g-8) on The Zale Map.

Another location not mentioned in this video: In "Feet First" when Harold is nearing the top of the building, the infamous Hotel Cecil can be seen clearly in the background just a few blocks away.

Amazing information. Thanks. I know that in 1923 or so, Hamburger's became The May Company. I'm in love with the woman who is on camera. So beautiful and intelligent. I love movie history, Los Angeles history, and have written about 1920s Los Angeles radio history. Thanks for this wonderful video.

The Herald-Examiner location was also used in the Laurel and Hardy film "Liberty." The Fashion Bldg. seen at 2:23 is in one of the L&H production stills for the film.
