Not just the Arab culture, southern France too . Years ago we had an Irish au pair who accompanied us to our family home in a traditional Corsican village. She left after a few days. The final straw was waking up in the middle of the night to the deafening sound of gun fire. She was terrified poor girl. It was just the celebrations because the Corsican team had won a football match!

I love this skit! It seems that they are using real AKs, firing blanks (obviously). I see empty shells being ejected. It could be CGI though.

In the UK props guns are usually (but not always) real firearms permamently modified to fire only blanks and required the same licence to own as the real fireram would.

Not just arabs - Greeks too. My friend went to a Greek wedding & found herself surrounded by vollies of celebratory gun fire after. Having a phobia of any firearms and surrounding by slightly drunken Greeks firing off rifles, handguns and shotguns like fireworks she certainly had a memorably traumatic day. :o)
