I’m not a Cubs fan but this gave me goosebumps. Remember watching many Cubs games on tv when I was younger and Harry was a huge reason why we enjoyed them so much. Nicely done MLB. This was the perfect time and place to do this.

Lifetime Cardinals fan here- my family used to watch Cubs games on WGN just for Harry Caray. We loved him. My parents grew up when he called games for the Cardinals with Jack Buck. It was awesome to see this last night! It took me back to when I was a kid. Those classic baseball announcers like Harry can never be replaced.

I grew up in mid 80s/90s and the cubs didnt have lights on the field for their home games, and were always a 2:10 start time. Well i got out of school at 2:00 and off the bus about 2:10. Like you i was out of market but cable had WGN Network and the cubs games. Steve Stone and Harry Caray were the best storytellers in baseball. I would watch /listen to every game while doing homework. Every now and then I'll go back and listen to Harry's "As sure as God made green apples" speech about the cubs and the world series. Its just so good. He felt like America's grandfather. That was a special time. Still a cubs fan to this day.

Funny Harry Caray story/ At a Cubs practice (not a game) during spring training game, a friend of mine asked me to get some autographs on his band's poster (Flotsam and Jetsam). There were a few players mulling the infield. So I thought I would leave empty handed. Then, Harry Caray was walking across the field in my direction, so I asked him to sign the poster. The field crew had some equipment laying around in foul ground. While Mr Caray was approching me, he stepped on a rake and the handle smacked him in the noggin. Myself as well as the folks around me did our best to hold in the laughs out of respect. He still was kind enough to sign the poster, My friend received his HK autograph and I received my lasting, albeit unusual memory. Respect to HK, RIP!

how is this a "hologram" if it's not actually there or visible in real life? Clearly a hologram wasn't actually projected in the box, otherwise the fans would be looking up towards the box or filming the hologram with their phones. Soooo.... this is literally just CGI, no different than the stupid Fox NFL robot that gets added over top live footage for the TV audience, but no one actually there is able to see it.
