The man had chops! Lovely band with stellar dynamics. He was an icon of musicality and promoting camaraderie within his band. Thanks for posting!!

I met Harry James some time late 70's or early 80's. He was playing one night at the Holliday Inn in Indianapolis. I asked his manager if I might speak to Harry and he was sitting at a far table against the wall. I introduced myself and Mistakenly mentioned that I had purchased the Capital record series on big bands. He was not happy with the arrangement that apparently was not monetarily rewarding to him. He did, however, compliment the great arranger, Billy May.

Looks like a lady lead trumpet, but can’t tell. Laurie Frink?

@@ChuckParDue1953 my bifocals needed adjustment. Lol. I realized that after the fact and failed to delete the comment. Sorry. I do seem to recall the James band had a female or two when Harry was alive and after Joe Graves took over when Harry passed.

@restoredoutboards Louise Beringer was in the trumpet section. She actually was my wife’s roommate when my wife was the band vocalist.
