I like the ending frame of Azkaban. The motion blur is unconventional, memorable, and it’s nice having the last image be of Harry being happy and having fun after all the shit he went through in the movie.

gambon and harris both had good qualities as dumbledore, however, i dont know how harris's more grandfatherly older style would work for the dueling and more action in the later movies. It works for dialogue and to add that sort of warlock old mystique, but I like Gambon's more energy in a way

I couldn't agree more. I'm also a book loyalist that has read the books SO MANY more times than watched the films. Not a massive fan of the movies due to how much shit was left out from Prisoner onward. But I also agree, Gambon was a much better Dumbledore. I know that Dumbledore is supposed to be soft spoken, but he's also very strange and quirky, as well as has a presence and power and strength to him. Harris didn't have that. He had the soft spoken grandfather part down. But would have been terrible in the later moments where he's supposed be a badass. As was said, people only shit on Gambon as Dumbledore because of that stupid SINGLE line from Goblet where everyone thinks they're hilarious by quoting "he says calmly", despite the fact 95% of them haven't even READ the books. It's like, of all the bullshit the movies either changed or left out entirely, THIS is what ya'll are gonna latch onto and judge Gambon for? They all act like he's screaming his head off on that line, but he's not even that loud. He just says it AGRESSIVELY. Sure, let's all latch onto that one line and not say shit about the fact we had NO Winky, NO Peeves, NO SPEW, NO Snape challenge from Philosopher's Stone despite it being said he was helping protect the stone... come on people. Just shut the fuck up about that line.

@@Lasmelan For me, I think 4 is the perfect culmination of the series up to that point, and the perfect set-up for the rest. It has the best ending of any of them, imo, and I think they really nailed the pacing, the CG, camera quality, and editing are all better in this than the 3rd one. It was also my favorite book growing up, so I'm probably biased towards the story. I love them all though, none of them are even mediocre. All at least very good.

By accept I mean compartmentalize that one aspect thing he doesn’t like and instead of letting it ruin the rest of it for him. He’s able to suspend disbelief and ignore dumb, cringy things for other series (e.g. Fast and Furious), and I just wish he could do the same for series that aren’t “his thing.” 🤷🏼‍♂️

The way this movie was shot was what made it my favourite film in the series. The plot is incredible too, but this movie had such a good spooky magic feeling. Also the first film that really used audio to give spells and the words associated with them more of a distinctive presence in the world of magic.

Hey Guys, just wanted to drop you a quick note I listen to nearly every review series you do and this Harry Potter one is up their with the best, like many others it's my entertainment for my commute to work but today on my cycle in this morning (listening to my podcast service of choice) I got a flat tire a good hour walk away from work but luckily it was a beautiful morning and I still had an hour left to my review, so thanks for taking my mind off my flat tire and being my company on the way to work it definitely made the journey better ❤

Tim constantly ignores the fact that this is still a kids movie. He's watching as an adult so HE wants it to be more adult but at the time this movie was meant for young teens and kids. The Dursleys are supposed to be hateful and not have any redeeming qualities, except for maybe Dudley. While Malfoy is supposed to be the stereotypical "bully" but is actually a coward. Of course, he's afraid of Hermione, who wouldn't be when she's considered to be one of the most brilliant young witches in Hogwarts? He's all talk and he's supposed to be seen as one dimensional until later when we actually get to have more time with him and understand his darkness. For now, he's still a spoiled, rich, pure-blood kid who's only all talk and no action. But I digress. Excited for next week!

Last note on this. James, Sirius and Peter didn't actually succeed at becoming Animagi until their 5th year at Hogwarts. Which means Lupin suffered alone as a werewolf for at least 4 years. They all figured out what Lupin was in their second year I believe, and it took them roughly 3 years to learn how to become Animagi and complete the process becuase it is a very long and complicated process. It involves things like having to keep a mandrake leaf in your mouth for a full month. Meaning it must stay there during sleep, eating, and if swallowed they must start over. Then the leaf has to be put in phial and placed somewhere directly within the rays of a full moon in a clear sky, and if the moons rays are obstructed by clouds they must start the whole one month leaf in the mouth process over. Then there's other shit like needing dew that has never exposed to the sun's rays or stepped on by anyone for at least seven days. Then it must be kept out of sun, otherwise it will be useless. Then the potion must be exposed to a lightning strike. All kinds of crazy shit that has to line up perfectly, which explains why it took so long since three of them had to do this. And Peter Pettigrew was basically useless.

I liked the first two movies as a kid, but I remember seeing this movie and being so excited because the series was growing up as I was. The dynamic cinematography, slightly desaturated colors, the fact that the kids wore street clothes around Hogwarts- it made it feel so modern and cool and it made me so excited for the future of the movies, because I could see that they were not afraid to evolve.

Also, I just want to point out. The scene where they're all fighting the boggart and Lupin jumps in front of Harry and stops him? In the books, it is explained that Lupin did this becuase when he saw Harry standing there about to go next, he freaked out becuase he assumed Harry's greatest fear would have been Voldemort, and didn't think it would be a good idea to allow Voldemort to materialize in the middle of class and scare everyone to death. P.S. In the books, it's explained that Snape knew where they all were out in the Shrieking Shack because Snape had gone to Lupins office to give him his Wolfsbane Potion (that he's supposed to take so when he transforms into a werewolf at the full moon he keeps his sane human mind and can just safely curl up in his office and not worry about killing or biting people and creating more werewolfs) and Snape sees the Map out on the table, and of course like a dumbass, despite the fact Lupin help create the map and knew better, he had left it open and unwiped so Snape could see what was happening and noticed everyone disappearing into the whomping willow tunnel. So he followed. P.S.S. In the books, Hermione buys Crookshanks in Diagon Alley at a pet shop called the Magical Menagerie. Originally she wanted to buy herself an owl since Harry had Hedwig and Ron had the useless family owl, Errol, and figured it'd be useful to have. Ron also wanted to go to the shop and have his rat Scabbers looked at becuase he was looking ill ever since the Weasley family trip to Egypt. While in the shop, Crookshanks attacked Ron and since Hermione is an inconsiderate bitch sometimes, buys the cat instead of an owl becuase she felt bad that the owners of the shop said no one wanted him. And also, Crookshanks is half Kneazle, which is a magical breed of cat with above average intelligence. Hence, it knowing Sirius was actually a good person and helping him.

JK Rowland went on record later saying she wished she had came up this the idea in the books; she loved it so much!

Sirius actually got the broom with the help of Hermiones cat. I don’t remember like the exact details but I think he let her order it in Harry’s name but the money came from his vault. In the Books its an Even bigger thing because he gets the broom when they still think Sirius is hunting Harry. So Hermione tells Minerva which leads to a huge argument between Harry, Ron and her.
