Goblet of Fire was my favorite book but maybe my least favorite of the movies. The director and Gambon really didn't understand the material enough to reflect the books.

The Imperius curse is used to control a living thing to do what you want, but those with a strong will can resist the curse to a certain extent which mostly comes to a thing when facing death. Also, the "ghosts" Harry sees in the graveyard duel are explained in the books to be shells of the people who were last killed before they died. They aren't exactly ghosts, just kind of a reflection that's able to interact for a short time. Dumbledore tells Harry no spell can bring someone back from the dead. The afterlife is better explained in Deathly Hallows and on Pottermore as basically when you die you go into a Limbo designed as a a waiting room for you to decide to go back to the land of the living as a ghost or move on to the afterlife. The only thing that allows a person who's moved on to the afterlife to come back as a ghost is the Resurrection stone.

Genuinely surprised by how many people are riding so high with Goblet of Fire. When these films were coming out it was regarded as the worst one. They mess up so much from the book, they butcher the Triwizard Tournament, so many characters aren't handled well...I mean hey to each their own, I'm just legit shocked, my HP loving friends and myself (not into HP anymore) always think of this as the one bad blotch on an otherwise very well made series.

Tim, I'm glad you're finally enjoying it! I think ALL the movies are good though, and my favorite is Azkaban with Goblet of Fire right behind it. I wonder how you'll feel about the build-up to Goblet once you've seen all the movies. I think it does a lot to establish characters, and Azkaban especially set the dark tone and look you seem to prefer.

0:01 wait wha...where's KF/AF? Best part of Wednesday is the workweek is half over and the best way to celebrate is with a burrito and some beers while watching an episode of KF/AF with no pants on. Someone at Kinda Funny is clearly giving KF/AF the same treatment that Boy Meets World got from ABC. Constantly changing the start time, hoping fans lose track of it, hoping the views go down. I can't prove it, but I'm sure GameOverGreggy has something to do with this. He's trying to undermine #KFAF4STREAMYS. But of course Greg's not gonna get his hands dirty himself, he'll get his minions to do it for him. BKD and Barrett are to Greg what Gerald Briscoe and Pat Patterson are to Mr. McMahon. Nick and Kevin have a love/hate relationship. Nick loves making magic happen while Kevin hates checking the audio, hates the Milk Mommy bit, hates how Nick compliments Kevin's sexy younger brother and constantly asks Nick "What is wrong with you?" Then there's Barrett, who publicly and unequivocally disrespected Nick and Andy when he put his pants back on right in the middle of National Donald Duck Day / National Doughnut Day. We won't be silenced!!! #KFAF4STREAMYS!!!

Back in the day this was my favourite Harry Potter film - I just loved how cool and dark it got; 3 was a bit of a jump for sure but this one felt waaaaay darker, almost gothic. I'd have to watch them again to figure out my current favourite but I'm sure this has moved down the list a bit. Then again...I'm one of the weird ones that really likes 7 part one. Also, real talk...what the hell happened to the hair cuts in this film? As in why does nobody have one? I always thought that was really bizarre.

Veritaserum is actually pretty interesting. I always wondered why they don’t just use it in court or something but it actually doesn’t make you tell the real truth but what you think the truth is. For example Barty crouch jr said that Voldemort would reward him highly under the influence of Veritaserum which wasn’t true but he thought it was.
