The Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling were taking the world by storm even before the final books had even been published. Naturally, a film adaptation was needed. With the success of the books, the movies were pretty much guaranteed to be a success, and that they were-- bringing in billions of dollars at the box office.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone definitely raises some questions though. Like why is Dumbledore doing such public magic in an effort to not be seen doing magic? Why leave Harry with horrible people and not check in on him? Why send so many letters when Howlers are a thing? Why do they celebrate Christmas? Why did Harry get rewarded for essentially making the situation more dangerous? Why is everyone so happy that he killed a teacher?
To answer all these questions and more, step inside the Pitch Meeting that led to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone! It’ll be super easy, barely an inconvenience.

Yeah, sometimes I feel like Snape hated James so much because he wanted to protect Lily's innocence, sort of like a protective brother. This is why James' Patronus is a stag and Snape's is another doe. Does are a symbol of innocence and they aren't sexualy attracted to other does. I know people think Snape was obsessed with Lily and she got "friendzoned" but I really think all he wanted was to be her friend. I mean, Sirius seemed pretty obsessed with James too, and they were also childhood best friends

@LoganBluth 2 жыл бұрын
@@aceash459 That's..... actually *_worse_* than Snape being sexually attracted to Lily and jealous that she chose James. That implies that Snape sees Lily more as an object than as an actual person, an object that he feels he should have control over, what with your idea that he wanted to prevent her from "losing her innocence". It also suggests some pretty messed up, misogynistic views on female sexuality.

My favorite thing about Hogwarts is that the whole series I was thinking at the end all the houses were going to come together but....nope, Slytherins are just all irredeemably evil. And the teachers know this. And they teach them magic anyway.
@FirebirdPrince
@FirebirdPrince 2 жыл бұрын
This was my one gripe with the closing. Rowling kinda showed this split-off with Snape, Slughorn and Draco (though none of their history are clean) but never really applied it to the entire house. Only during a random interview she explicitly stated that Slughorn brought some Slytherins along to help but it would've been much better to have seen/read this when it was happening
@teddyhaines6613

@@FirebirdPrince And to be fair to the Slytherin students, it really doesn't make a ton of sense for them to help defend Hogwarts considering how many of their parents are on the other side. I always wondered: since the kids already knew before the sorting, that "There's not a witch or wizard who went bad who wasn't in Slytherin.", what are you supposed to do, when you are put there? Indeed. The story of Harry Potter is Dumbledore finding a child in a bad situation (dead parents) taking that child and placing him in a worse situation (abusive parents) then using his popularity as a famous person to get Harry to do what he wants to train him to be able to kill public enemy number 1 by having Harry fight with various obstacles at Hogwarts. Basically Dumbledore is trying to groom a child soldier and the only reason it is considered acceptable is because he kills the big bad guy.

The first part's pretty easy to explain. Voldemort didn't anticipate that because it fell under "things he considers worthless and thus didn't learn about, and doesn't account for." It's probably not a totally unprecedented event, or Dumbledore wouldn't have had anywhere to pull that theory from in the first place. In fairness though, JK Rowling later decided the more exact details of the sacrifice were important, I suspect because she realized this sort of thing would probably have happened more than she'd originally realized.

@@user-zp8we4zk2i What does Harry's perspective have to do with none of the Slytherins choosing to oppose Voldemort? They were all either for him or at best too cowardly to act against him. Or was Harry's perspective so skewed he actively lied about parts of the story? The only "good" Slytherin in the story was Snape, and he wasn't a good person he was just so obssessed over a lost love he was willing to turn on his old master to avenge her.
