J.K. Rowling packed the Harry Potter novels with fascinating characters. Her descriptions of characters included detailed physical traits and complex personalities. When the Harry Potter movies went to the big screen, the casting crew had their work cut out for them. Not only was their selection of actors and actresses not infinite, they had to consider both physical and character traits in their decisions.
When you’re reading a book, it’s easy to interpret the author’s descriptions of people in your own way. Although, there are usually some definite descriptions that cannot be missed in the imagination process. This video takes clear descriptions of the Harry Potter characters from the novels and compares them to the actress or actor who played them in the movies.

I disagree. Bonnie had very few facial expressions. You couldn' t read her emotions on her face, like you could with the other child actors. I'd say she was not able to bring Ginny Weasley to life, so to speak. Has nothing to do with the scriptwriting but with the acting. Bonnie/Ginny was a diasoppointment in every scene she was in.

It is probably worth noting that Lilly, James, Sirius, and Remus were all much younger than portrayed in the movies. Lilly and James had Harry at 20 years old, which would place Sirius and Remus in their early 30s when they are introduced, but the actors are clearly in their 40s.

It wasn't Bonnie's fault to be like that, i really think if they write Ginny like the book Bonnie can play book Ginny. Daniel was allergic to lenses. So they couldn't make Harry potter with Green eyes, at least Lily's adoult form has blue eyes, but the child Lily has brown eyes. They could have made child Lily with blue eyes so at least it would make sense, anyways it wasnt Dan's fault that he is allergic to lenses.

I can't imagine the nightmare it would have been to cast such an iconic set of books. Not knowing how the main (child) characters are going to grow over the years. It's an achievement that they did so well. Alas, I suspect many if not most characters had to be simplified from their book versions to keep the plot running forward. With Ginny's role reduced to background character, Ron as comic relief, Hermione as exposition dump, and Neville sidelined almost entirely. It's genuinely hard to decide which character was most short-changed. I'd have loved to have seen, more of the vulnerable, insecure Hermione. A more fleshed out Ron. The scene in St. Mungo's with Neville and his parents. More time given to establish the ghosts, and their story so it could be more rounded out (included). More of Voldemort's history and backstory. I understand that all these things would've brought the story to a jarring stop, or slow the pace. But, I'd love to see them included if it was remade in a Netflix style format. More time for Dobby, for all those elements to breathe. Hell, the films didn't even touch on the Marauders. Just a vague suggestion that Remus was aware of the map's properties. Again pacing impacts what's included. A longer cover of the maze in the trials could've been delivered.

I don't have a problem with Harry not having green eyes (yes, Radcliff couldn't wear the lenses). Therefore *blue* eyed movie Harry. What I *have* a problem with: Not giving Lilly the same eye color. Snape says you have your mother's eyes and afterwards we get the Lilly/Severus flashback. And Lilly has the darkest *brown* eyes I have ever seen on a ginger. ^^ Snape should have said: "You have your mother's eyes, but the eye color is completely different. With as little screen time that was allowed. Jenny was played pretty well I thought. I get the changes that had to be made for the constraints though normally it does ruin a character. In the books, Dumbledore comes off as Grandfatherly as in the movies of Sorcerer's Stone and I think Chamber Of Secrets as opposed to the later movies where the new Dumbledore took over who yells at Harry Potter and doesn't seem to want to make friends with Harry and seems to want to kill him in Goblet of Fire!

I really don’t understand why they’re contemplating the actor’s looks. Nothing is going to be absolutely perfect, and the actors all portrayed their part as it was written.

And for harry potter I dont think they realized that they tried to do green contacts with harry(and because of this he had contacts for one scene; i believe the last scene of the first movie) but he was allergic to the contacts and on multiple occasions it brought him to practically crying and you can notice that in the scene where he was wearing the contacts

Yes by Draco Malfoy. He cursed her “buck teeth” and made them grow longer and longer and Snape didn’t say anything saying she looked no different then normal. That’s why the description of her teeth changed after she was cursed in the goblet of fire Specifically at the Yule ball when she is described as “hair flat and shiny” and teeth noticeably normal shaped” and Hermione said that in the hospital wing madam Pomfrey told her to “tell her when to stop” and she just let her “carry on a bit” she also said her parents never let her fix her teeth with magic because they didn’t believe in fixing teeth with magic. TMI? Sorry😅 and btw no I’m not a ravenclaw lol
