I don't remember which youtube channel it was, but there was someone who speculated how things would have turned out for the whole franchise if Harry had been put in Slytherin instead of Gryffindor. It was pretty interesting. But I also do think that Harry would have asked to not be put in Slytherin regardless of what Ron said. He just saw his two new friends end up in Gryffindor, and the interaction he had with Malfoy right before definitely didn't leave a good impression on him. Granted, Malfoy showed his bully nature early because Ron laughed at his name, but seeing how he literally goes to confront Harry and the Weasleys in the bookstore in the second movie, he would probably still have made that comment about "the wrong sort" as soon as he saw Ron beside Harry. It's his first year at Hogwarts too, so the only way he would know how to recognize a Weasley is because his father (who I think also worked at the ministry with Ron's father) would have ingrained the hate early on by repeatedly badmouthing the Weasleys. So Draco was bound to show his bad side in that scene and make Harry not want to join him in Slytherin.

I love Harry Potter, the books and the movies, remember going to see the movies every Christmas with my dad at the cinema when they came out. Brilliant reaction, you should go to the Warner Bros Studios in Watford one day, its a magical place for Potter fans.

I love Harry Potter and of course I read all the books I made my dad get me every single one 😂 and I’m a gryffindor girl myself.💛❤️ I really love how innocent the movies started out then gets so much darker as you go on we really got to grow up with these characters. Side note: I will be getting the Hogwarts castle tattooed on my ribs

The point they get at the end was basically just the ones that were taken away from them during the year. So they just got their points back. I think it's fair enough.

That’s true but getting the exact amount of points back you got taken away for punishments for breaking the rules just negates the punishment in my opinion.

I think the argument is that the punishments were unjust as they broke the rules for a good reason.

8:55 Thats not how the hat works lol I get what you mean but Harry having an opinion on the hat doesn’t matter. I believe the hat goes off your strongest qualities so for Harry he’s probably seen as Courageous and chivalrous which are strong qualities for a gryffindor.

the Sorting Hat also mentioned "courage, intellect, talent, and a thirst to prove himself" telling Harry that Slytherin would help him on his way to greatness. In the Chamber of Secrets Dumbledore explained it's only because Harry expressly asked not to be put in Slytherin that the hat ends on Gryffindor!
