Tao's mom talks about losing his dad, but it seems like a lot of people either don't notice that conversation in an earlier episode or it doesn't sink in. That's not a criticism, but I can't decide if it's the way it's handled in the show or if the reactors on YT just haven't picked it up.

Darcy did not run away! Her mother kicked her out. The music drowns out the peak of their argument but you can see the mom yell "get out". And if there were any doubt, in the "recap" that Netflix put out the other day, we get a clip of that scene with the dialogue audible. Darcy's mum is the absolute bottom of the bottom tier.

I didn’t even know what being Asexual was, when I finally realized I was Ace in my fifties. Growing up I had friends and family who were gay but no one I could relate to for how I felt. I’m so glad that we have some representation through this show, especially for the younger generation.

Charlie’s mom didn’t hate Nick. It was more that she was worried for Charlie. She knew that last year, when Charlie was outed, she saw the torment that he went through when was being bullied by all of the sporty lads. Since Nick is a sporty lad, she was worried that Nick was going to hurt Charlie. But as you can see, she came around. Also, it may seem like there’s an awful lot of gay people, students, and teachers at the school, but remember there’s about 1200 students at each of the two schools. So probably at least 100 faculty between them as well. So having three gay teachers and 10 or so LGBTQ+ students on the show is actually a very small percentage. They tend to hang out together.

14:02 "i'm rooting for all the ben's out there" while this is also valid i think it's important to also say to all the charlie's out there that you're not alone. if you've been beaten down and assaulted by the ben's don't forget that we believe you as the victim and we prioritize your well being in this situation.

8:30 this scene was so brilliantly done. The viewer starts to feel sorry for Ben with this apology, realizing how much self-hatred and internalized homophobia he has. But Charlie is completely correct. He has every right to say those things to Ben. And then the rainbow wave that doesn't quite reach Ben. My interpretation is that Ben turns away from accepting the LGBTQ+ side of himself. I don't know if there's canon for future Ben, but I imagine that he stuffs so those feelings down for a long time and doesn't come to terms with them until he's a full adult. Ben's parents seem to be utterly unaware of what's going on with their son.

If Ben had actually thought about what Charlie wanted, rather than what he wanted; he would have left Charlie alone. He texted Charlie how may times and never got a response. That should have told him that Charlie was not interested in talking to him. But it was always about what Ben wanted; so he ambushed him to give an apology laced with excuses. My parents won't accept me, I was figuring things out; well those do not fly as excuses for treating Charlie the way he did.

Ive heard more than one britt dpeaking up in Mr. Farouk isnt actually meant to be read as that much of a jerk. Apparently how he acts is just a common teacher stereotype with it generally being understood as firm but not actually an asshole? Bark not bite. As a none Brit Im not the best to explain. Yea I was hoping for a redemption for Ben but that didn’t happen and like you said even if Nick was out of the picture and Charlie gave Ben another chance Ben was still in the closet so what would’ve really changed ?

you're right Marcus! Ben has to be willing to do the work, on his own, first! Cause were things currently stand if in some CRAZY world Charlie was to take Ben back, we would be reverting back to Season 1 hushed corners, mistreatment and forceful sexual advances. No thanks

just a refresher on a few of the times we have seen hints of charlie struggling with eating prior to season 2 episode 5 - in season 1 episode 1 - charlie tells mr ajayi that he is eating lunch in the art room, but he never actually eats any of it. also in this episode, charlie has a bowl of cereal that he just pushes around until it’s soggy - he never actually ate it in season 1 episode 7 - charlie doesn’t get popcorn at the cinema in season 1 episode 8 - charlie opens his lunch box, looks at the lunch inside, and closes it back up in season 2 episode 1 - charlie tells nick he will eat when he goes home. when charlie gets home later, he tells his dad that he already ate at nick’s. so charlie doesn’t have dinner that night in season 2 episode 4 - charlie says he doesn’t want ice cream because he is full from breakfast, but nick points out that charlie barely ate any breakfast. also charlie pushes around his food a bit when they are all sat at the table having dinner it’s definitely not new or suddenly implemented! just always in the background, especially when charlie is stressed out

Yesss! Wow.. So many moments woven throughout the first two seasons.Often very subtly placed that if you're not looking for it, you wouldn't even know. I picked up on some of these as I edited my Season 2 reactions as well. Interested to see where we go from here!

My relationship with Ben is basically, if I was on the show, I would grab him by the ear, drag him faaar away from Charlie and then have a chat with him and help him. He is a real exercice of nuances. I hate all his actions, but I have empathy for the core emotions that he is feeling. And I want him to feel better about himself, for himself and the others around him. He is rotting inside and doesnt know how to handle it and hurts everyone around him. And no Charlie doesnt have to show any grace at Ben. That door is closed. But it doesnt mean Ben cant get better. It will just be far away from Charlie (and redemption arc isnt really the right term. But simply, character development) While I loved Imogen standing up for herself, she shouldnt have added the Charlie part. It put a spotlight on Charlie that made him uncomfortable and it was treading too close to outing Ben. But for all the rest, heck yes you deserve better

You're right on Charlie not having to show Ben any grace! That's where I come in lol. But yes lets leave some space for Ben to grow and develop as you say! Ooh great point on Imogen's remarks! It definitely put Charlie in the unneeded hot seat and if their were messy classmates like myself I could have connected some dots lol. I think she was just frustrated with the whole situation and notably observed Ben's weird fixation with Charlie.

Lol I totally had the “I was rooting for you!” Tyra clip playing in my head as you were angrily yelling at Ben 😂 I love Isaac so much. Poor bb ❤ I believe Harry is coming around more than Ben is. We see him stick up for people twice in this & last episode, so good for him. That being said, while people that are putting in the effort may deserve a second chance, the people they’ve hurt are not obligated to forgive them. Especially Charlie who’s bottled things up for years & is now struggling with ED. You can’t pour from an empty cup. Let someone else who has the extra capacity give Harry his second chance.

15:51 it's been a thing from the beginning, bestie. It's not something brand new that is necessarily being implemented into the storyline just now... there's been signs of it from way back in episode 1! Mainly, just Charlie picking at food but not actually eating it... Which technically could be brushed off as an actor just not wanting to eat the entire take that they're in because then they have to continue that the entire scene every take.... But in this show it absolutely has been intentional. We very very rarely see Charlie actually putting food in his mouth in the scenes where he has food in front of him... The milkshake and the icecream scenes are the exception. Every other scene he's either making the excuse that he's not hungry or just picking at the food.

Most of the cast was between 16 and 19 when they started filming the show. So now they’re like all in their twenties. I also love that they cast actual teenagers for this. And if you ever were to read the graphic novels that the show is based on, you’ll see how perfect they cast those actors! It’s like book characters coming to life 😍

@@KOFI_ESCAPES Season 1 of the show covers the same period and (although there are some changes to both characters and events) is basically the same story as Volumes 1 & 2 of the graphic novels. Season 2 of the show corresponds to Volume 3 of the graphic novels, plus one scene from Volume 4 that was moved earlier in the timeline for the show. Season 3 corresponds to Volumes 4 & 5 of the graphic novels plus the novella This Winter. If Netflix greenlights the hoped-for Season 4 (all extremities crossed hard!), that will correspond to Volume 6 which Alice is currently writing & drawing, plus probably the novella Nick & Charlie, and it will be the last. Alice has said they intend to end the story (except for an epilogue) when Nick goes to university. But they've also shown us in a number of mini-comics published online that Nick & Charlie do live happily ever after together - and that they would, canonically, find each other in any world. :) (There are some wonderful alternate-universe comics, and indeed, Alice tends to think of the TV show as an only slightly divergent alternate-universe version of the story in the books.)

Thank you for another great reaction! If you ever go back to previous episodes and even in season one, you’ll see that there were plenty of hints and moments that foreshadowed Charlie’s ED.

so excited abt this video!! one thing i do wanna say tho- charlie’s ed has been implemented since episode one, but it went so unnoticed. i didn’t even notice it until a few rewatches, but he’s always had really bad eating issues which speaks to how often this sort of thing flies under the radar for teens, esp queer teens. not to mention how mental health issues tend to go unnoticed in men- it’s a whole thing :(
