The addition of the photo-etch really makes a difference to the otherwise empty and rather dull looking stock cockpit area! Well done Harry....it's really going to give it a 'lift' once the painted canopy is fitted and can be seen inside.. 👍

A cup of Tea and Waffles, what a great way to start my Sunday morning. The scratch building for the center console really makes the P.E. pop, even though it is not as visible when buttoned up, it is worth it. Great job so far Harry. Cheers from the U.K.

Hold on a mo. Nick Butler ? Are you by any chance the same NB that's created some extraordinarily beautiful T hot rods in 1:1 scale ?
@HarryHoudiniModels Жыл бұрын
Thanks Nick… yes that console was worth trying once in PE, but I prefer the method I used for the Stingray… far easier and less expensive.

Wonderful work Harry, definitely worth it considering you have the vacform canopy, but not sure i have the patience to do it at this scale! It just goes to show what you can achieve with old kits. Really enjoying your builds mate. Thankyou 😁 👊

It was an interesting exercise but I won’t bother with a complex interior in 1/72 ever again, well not in PE… might just print a 3D one and slap it in!

You should get an Honorary Swiss Watchmaker's rating for that throttle quadrant, mate! Put the canopy on with Hobby Tack or rubber cement so you can remove it to see all those goodies!

Very fiddly but the result looks good. Are you going to use the photo-etch seatbelts? Those things tend to be the most visible element in the cockpit I think, probably due to the contrasting colour.
@HarryHoudiniModels Жыл бұрын
I will be using the blobby pilots so will see if the PE seatbelts fit on Biggles and Megzy

Bonjour Harry, mate that's tiny PE , can only imagine the dallar coins you put in the swear jar, looks great from behind the canopy 😁😁😁 , you got anything planned for the fuesalage? Have a good one mate 👍👍👍

I could have paid someone else to do the job with the cash in the swear jar… LOL
@garylawless3608 Жыл бұрын
The cockpit looks good Harry, but if I tried to build that console, I guarantee that there would be swearing and a meltdown. I can handle most photo etch on 1/35 armour, cursing and swearing included, but I think anything smaller would be beyond me. Particularly something like those control levers. My shaky old hands are hard to control. Cheers mate!
@HarryHoudiniModels Жыл бұрын
It was at my limit of fiddly ness Gary. Lost nearly half the levers to the carpet monster. I edited out all the swearing LOL

I'm really enjoying this, thanks! It answers the question, "How much interior detail should I add?" 🤔 😣
@HarryHoudiniModels Жыл бұрын
Yes, sometimes none at all… just depends what you want to do.. most often little can be seen once you button up the fuselage and glue in the canopy
@brinx8634 Жыл бұрын
@@HarryHoudiniModels With that clear vac form canopy, I'm sure your cockpit detail won't go unnoticed. On screen, the dark red throttle handles are hard to see....might be better in bright red?.

Admire your patience and dexterity Harry but can't really see the point of all that extra work on the interior when it's going to be covered up when you add the canopy . Lots of modellers seem to go that extra mile for interiors but unless it's on view what's the point ? Still if it makes you happy and gives you satisfaction why not ? Not for me though .
@HarryHoudiniModels Жыл бұрын
I agree with you completely but this was just an exercise in “can you do it” and “was it worth it”? I say yes for the former but not really for the latter. A little scratch maybe, but the PE I used for this kit is rather pointless in the end. Still I am glad I tried the upgrade anyway.
