Forreal I genuinely never noticed the lack of midrolls, but it makes sense. Sometimes I put on old videos I've seen before as background noise to fall asleep to, and John's videos are the only ones that haven't on occasion demolished my battery by slipping in a few two hour ads in the middle

I want a version of Observation Duty that actively gaslights you. Put a man in the center of the room, and when you report it, it says “Theres literally nothing there… are you feeling okay?” Things move and then move back when you switch cameras, the game will start getting more and more manipulative…. I dunno, it sounds fun

The "upsidedown" map of the USA kinda makes sense. I had a teacher who had an upside down map to teach people how we view maps is artificial. There is no up or down in space, the upsidedown USA is not less accurate than a "normal" map.

47:20 Based on what I saw when someone else played Observation Duty 4, for some distortions (the ones where you can't change the camera), if you just let it happen, it distorts the camera towards a hidden intruder then you get a game over. Much cooler than the skinny prince.

Jokes aside, I think one of my least favorite parts of these games (which I genuinely enjoy otherwise) is the fact that doing a good job and catching the anomalies in time means you don't get to see a lot of the cool, weird, scary stuff. I was also really curious as to what would happen if you just let the distortion in the subway tunnel play out, but my guess is it would have lead to a game over. I just think a horror game shouldn't get less scary and interesting the better you're doing in it, is all.
@Goldenkitten1
@Goldenkitten1 2 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I really like the idea of this game but watching this was like watching someone play a "Spot the Difference" puzzle in the newspaper for 50 minutes. To be an effective horror game things need to build up, it's perfectly fine that all you're getting is missing/added objects and screen/painting differences but at a certain point you have to dial things up. Sure, having a man in the hallway or whatever is extremely obvious but the fear comes from having them become more common and speeding up your demise while you *still* have to keep an eye out for smaller changes. I think this could really be something special if they focused on quality over quantity in the number of games and locations.

I think this fixed cam format is stronger than the "run around an environment" format they did for one of the past games, but the kinds of scares are the same. Feels like they could really iterate specifically on the sorts of things you see- the surprise factor is what made the original so effective.

In my opinion this is one of the best games in price to output ratio (is that even the right word, i hope you get what i mean) And with your calmness it really is a great mix.

The im on observation duty series is such a neat and simple concept that, as long as the creator doesn't run out of ideas, it could go on forever

thank you John for never putting midroll ads, i never realized it until you mentioned and now that i know it i really appreciate it, it makes the video more enjoyable since the ads don't break the pace at all!

Hey John. You probably won’t see this because it’s an old video. I’m currently on my John Wolfe rewatch cycle. I DO appreciate the no mid-role adds. I never noticed it before you mentioned it in this video, but I’ve appreciated it ever since. You’re doing a great job and I appreciate you.

I still like the concept of horror themed "spot the difference" but I feel like they are pumping them out too fast which in turn causes the staleness. Still fun to watch though lol. Great vid as always!

JOHN!!!! I was watching your Elden videos alongside my boyfriend on facetime and we always get ads from other youtubers. I swear when we were watching your playthrough it just came to my mind how we didn’t have to pause to wait the other for having a random ad, not even once. I admit I thought it must’ve been some kind of mistake but now hearing you say that, it’s so nice knowing it. THANK YOU for no ads midroll!!! You’re doing gods work. We all appreciate it!
