This video explains why I have not been successful with ginger or other rhizomes. My yard gets full sun most of the day. I'm working on creating some partially shaded areas for shade loving plants.

I agree Dan. I am growing some shampoo ginger now in my shade part of my garden. This Florida sun does not play, either your plants like the sun or it doesn't. I am told that the shampoo ginger have a pleasant smell. Something organic for my hair. Peace and Blessing.

Shampoo ginger is a beautiful plant. I did several videos on it last summer. I never found information on using the root as soap. It is edible - root (bitter) leaves and stalks can be cooked to impart ginger flavor. And the leaves traditionally used to wrap meat in underground ovens. Flowers are edible also. I personally haven't tried to eat any of it. Did you like it as a shampoo?
@Danfoodforest

Yes .. gorgeous flower ..I liked it as a shampoo because it felt good to know I grew something that could be used as a shampoo. Thanks..

I’m trying to grow this again, it wasn’t suited for the north Texas weather. It died off. I now live in south Texas. It’s hotter. I just saw my first sprout. 🤞🏽 it has time to grow, and set down some good roots. I don’t anticipate any flowers this year. Would be very nice to see though. I’m going to mulch it deeply this winter, and leave it in the container. It didn’t live in the house over winter. Thanks for sharing.😊🌱
