People keep talking on response videos about AMD waiting for nvidia to come out in order to label their pricing $50 less. We literally didn’t need them to say pricing but talk directly about specs. Could easily say pricing to be announced later in Q1. But to, for all intents and purposes, say nothing is just lazy and not strategic.
@Silver_Joystix6 күн бұрын
I’m glad someone else understands this. AMD needs to lead from a position of confidence, not depend on Nvidia to set the foundation for their tone and strategy. Essentially, AMD has bent the knee and crowned Nvidia their “daddy” and they look weak and incompetent as a result.

Amd seems more focused in taking even more market share from Intel. Intel still controls the enterprise market and AMD had I guess you could call a breakthrough? By partnering with dell. Dell sells a lot of PCs to businesses so this seems like it could be big. Possible that AMD has decided it's way easier to eat more market from Intel than it is to take on nvda in its prime.
@scissor-lips4 күн бұрын
@@broodyking that's actually a good point, since Intel has forever been doing shady deals to keep AMD out of Dell computers. If AMD were to turn the tables on Intel it would be poetic justice, especially if it's purely because AMD are faster and more efficient.

Can't believe AMD is repearing the same mistake of having only one CCD with 3d cache.
@notwhatitwasbefore5 күн бұрын
How many things actually need 16 cores of 3dcache though. Having one ccd able to clock higher because it doesn't have the Vcache is also a benefit and maybe a more widely usefull one. We are talking the highest end CPUs that are mostly non gaming products as its not like games are really using 16+ threads ever and its not like Intel have a 16 core 3dVcache product to compete with (or a product to compete with at all). 3Dcache is a gaming thing for the most part or entirely so, even a 16 core part is kind of a waste of time as its not like those cores are doing anything on the 2nd CCD which you might be disabling for more performance anyway, all it would take is for some windows core affinty mess up to try and use the Vcache on CCD1 for CCD0 and you (might) end up with worse performance. Sure if you have a specific use case that would 100% benefit from it then its a shame its not an option for you but as your a unique case maybe you could approach AMD to make you one special as your organisation is clearly doing something a bit special and can fund the production (its less than a billion I'd imagine). Otherwise its not a mistake is it you can either go elsewhere for your needs or you can't and the high boost clocks on the 2nd CCD (more thermal headroom because it doesn't have the vcache adding heat nor the structural silicon layers that trap heat in the cores) will be usefull for most 16 core customers.

perhaps it just works better? thats what I am thinking

@Silver-h4m6 күн бұрын
Intel is losing money on every B580 they sell, and the reason they're so 'consumer friendly' is because they have to be. After the disaster that was their latest CPU release, which is losing them Massive amounts of market share, they need good PR desperately. Sadly their B580 is about to get completely blown out when the RTX5060/RX9060 drop... Not looking good for them.
@gloth6 күн бұрын
@@Silver-h4m 1) No company will not sell at max profit because they... like consumers and are the nice guys... amd has to be as well. They are actually losing what little market share they have for the past generations. 2) your source about intel losing money on b580? Unless you have inside info, what they have said is that they are happy with the demand. If I remember correctly their gpu department in general is losing money, they are not selling cards under cost, but that's normal when you are entering a new market and have all the r&d without products in the beginning. It will get blown out if the xx60 cards will cost the same and perform better. With amd delaying showing us performance/pricing and nvidia being nvidia I somewhat doubt that they are going to care much about the b580 price and adjust their pricing accordingly

Why wouldn’t gamers care about APU’s with mid range graphics compute units on die? The AIHX pro +385 actually sounds like an awesome mid range laptop for gaming. Especially if they’re able to somehow put it in a thin and light form factor with 8 cores and 32CUs for around 999$. I would jump at the opportunity to buy a mini PC with RX 7700 XT performance, install Steam OS, and slap it in my media console in the living room.

Maybe Nvidia will name theirs to be the “GeForce B5900 RTX XT Super TI Max Ultra Plus” because the more letters in the name the more they can charge. Can’t wait for AI to take over the marketing jobs.

I am thankful Phil didn't do what most articles I read did. Say the RX9070 is directly comparable in performance to the RTX 4070 Ti Super or RX7900XT.

It's the little hand rubbing at 9:45 that tells you that Phil is just dying to play games with the 9950X3D.
