I loved the art style, especially the flash paint look with the full cards every time they played them. The story for the first two seasons was awesome.

I played Chaotic and watched the first season of the anime, and I was loving it. A local card game store used to host Chaotic tournaments with the format being 3v3. I used to play a Danian Water & Earth deck along with my mugician having Heptadd's crown so I could access ALL tribe's mugics. in the case of how one assembled an attack deck, each attack card has an "attack weight" to it, depicted on the top left corner with a number between 0 and 5. a deck MUST have 20 cards and you can't have a deck that has more than 20 points (which is why the 0s are important as they make space for VERY potent attacks). Once everyone has revealed their creatures (and the battlegears that requires to be revealed according to their card texts), both players start with 2 attack cards in their hand as soon as the first battle begins. Whoever wins the location's initiative is first to draw an attack card and play one of them, leading to a reaction phase with mugics or abilities, Yugioh style, then once abilities and the attack resolved, it's the opponent's turn to attack and so on. Also, a deck can't have more than 2 copies of a specific card, like 2 Mount Pillar in their 10 location decks for example, however, if the card has the "Unique" keyword, only 1 copy is legal in it, like Allmaggeddon, the most powerful attack card if your creature has all 4 elements, dealing a devastating 50 dmg as for how many mugics one can have in their deck, in a 1v1 is 1 mugic, 3 mugics in a 3v3, 6 in a 6v6 (that was implicit in the show, but was understandable) and yes, there are tribal mugics that the proper tribe can play (like Overworld's blue mugic, underworld's red, mipedian's yellow, danian's brown and M'arillian's black), but also generic mugics that are white and anyone can play so long as a single creature can pay for its mugic cost. There was a location that blocked all tribal mugics, the Runic Forest iirc, when it's the active location. I can only hope it would return, because in today's climate, it would've been perfect

I think I had a dream last year that it was making a comeback, like Digimon did. Was hoping this was confirmation. Never had a chance to play the card game, but the show was formative. Like with MegaMan NT Warrior. Just got the Battle Network collection for Christmas, and finally am getting to experience that. Wish I could say the same for Chaotic. But being able to go in, while a perfect body double handles my life, would be a dream come true.

The game wasn't honestly that complex compared to any other card game thing for a lot of kids at the time. It's actually really simple to the point of feeling autopiloty. The actual issue with it was that it was annoying to play. You can play Pokemon with cards and dice, YGO with cards and keeping track of LP in your head, but Chaotic had you tracking Mugic counters, Energy, the Stats, while also having the creatures take up alot of space, and games dragged out way longer than the others because, for some reason, in the phsyical card game they heal after every battle. When youre kid trying to play a thing during lunch, Chaotic was basically not an option.
@Remyael16 күн бұрын
That's a very solid point
@coranbaker640115 күн бұрын
I think that goes even further to show that they tried too much too soon. Nowadays, they could make a scanner app for kids to put their decks into and they could easily play a game or two during lunch.
@KANDL9513 күн бұрын
Chaotic was only in it's early days. Every TCG that only has been on the market for only a couple years will not be very complex. Examples: MTG, Yu-Gi-Oh, Cardfight Vanguard all started very basic until they got more mechanics into the game. Watch CFV OG series and then G, you'll how complex the game has evolved before the reboots. Unfortunately, Chaotic didn't stick around long to see it's potential evolution.

@@KANDL95 which is unfortunate, 'cause back then, when M'arillians were introduced, it added a nice spin on the card game, and I used to play the Danian starter deck, which was the best deck since it had mainly water, then earth on the side, and almost all m'arillians had the water element

@@RemyaelThe owner of the franchise has been trying to bring it back for years. I think Covid threw off the plans since he first teased the idea like in March 2020. The show has been brought back in an official way and can be watched on a new (at the time) Official YT Channel and a bunch of streaming services. So there is an attempt to revive it going on.

If you think Chaotic has untapped potential, then what about the Naruto Collectible Card Game, InuYasha TCG and Harry Potter Trading Card Game ? If i remembered correctly, these games were out of print even before their related films and/or anime came to an end. It was almost like people did not want to use the opportunity to make more $$$ 🤪
@Remyael3 күн бұрын
I mean if the one piece card game proves anything, it's that those games came out to early, also union area is a thing so they could show up in that, well not Harry Potter but the other's could
@chenyong90272 күн бұрын
@@Remyael The Union Area thing is interesting but i wish we can preserve the game mechanisms as they were. The Harry Potter and InuYasha TCGs were really beginner-friendly. The Naruto CCG was quite the opposite, with many players commenting a game was like going through a combat analysis in the anime, but that is what make it unique 😅 What i really don't understand is like, they are STILL making Harry Potter movies and Naruto anime now, but the games themselves died so early 😂

This is a really well-made video. Many points that I agree with, and some I'm more meh on. Beyond the fact that they're both tcgs, chaotic felt less like yugioh and more like if d&d had a card game (stats, races, attacks to cast). However, I really do agree that if it were released today, or even late last decade, it could really contend with so many popular games on the market today, especially if they managed to work on a proper pc version with a phone app. Just imagine opening a pack with a rare card, and loading that exact card into the app to start playing online with it immediately. There were a few moments a few years ago where it seemed like they were trying to gauge interest, but the creators never followed up on it. I really do hope they decide to give it a shot because with how much the market has changed, I think it could really thrive, especially with how much nostalgia might fuel it. Hell, just seeing this video js making want to break out my old deck again. Thanks for making a video about this great game

I want to correct one thing, it was relatively recently confirmed there was no lawsuit between 4kids and ChaoticTCG. Apparently it was mainly the 2008 recession that killed the game

Don't worry. This was know as a fact for over a decade until a blogger did his research and found out there was no lawsuit. The rumor originated on the old Chaotic forums. What actually happened was a lawsuit regarding 4Kids and Yu-Gi-Oh which just got mixed up in the sauce

Okay, first off. Amazing work on this video. tbh i love the show still to this day. the later season with the animation change was a bit meh for me. But I think a game EXACTLY like the show would be great. you go around fighting monsters hoping to scan them, that you later bring to a pvp arena with multiple maps that boost your stats or lowers them. IE: A ground terrain giving Maxor a ground boost making his ground wave bigger. stuff like that would be great. integrating MUGIX as an ultimate esque ability. I think with how good and how intricate a game like marvel rivals is. This would be very possible. Sry english not first language.
