Has Midjourney Lost it's Edge?: Website 2.0 Review

Midjourney rolled out the release of the new website to mixed reviews. For a company that has mastered the high tech world of ai, it seems like they're only just discovering html. But I'm starting to warm to it a little.
The website has been in development for months now. And this release is well half-baked and it's confusing a lot of users.
Today, I'll show you how to navigate the Midjourney website 2.0. We'll compare it with the old website and even drop in to the unpublished alpha website to better understand how the it evolved.

Thanks for watching! Yes. I attend MJ Office hours. It's a great way to find out what is going on behind the scenes. David has just come out and said that organizational tools aren't a priority. I disagree with him on this point especially.

@@MakingPhotoYah, totally agree with you on disagreeing with them! 😉 We all have so many images now, I would love to have a way to tag, create collections or folders, etc., so I can quickly find the images I am looking for. Right now, unless I am missing something, I am left to scrolling endlessly or search, which relies on me correctly remembering what I used in my prompts.

I seriously do not like what the new site has to offer at this point thankfully they’re still allowing us to use the legacy version. I’m also highly disappointed on the fact that they didn’t even do an announcement before pushing the beta site onto the main website. Listening to the weekly office hours it sounds like there’s quite a bit of being all over the place and not really having to focus but that’s just my opinion. Thank you for another awesome video

An Alpha release would usually have some but not all of the main features being rolled out, released with incremental updates to gain feedback and gauge performance etc. We shouldnt be surprised to see any basic usability gaps at the Alpha stage, given that's probably the simplest aspect to tweak via CSS etc. Tech types are always likely to underappreciate simple usability aspects, so keep on pushing them! Love your videos 😊

Thanks so much for this, mate!🤘 I am incredibly annoyed at the scroll speed of the carousel on the right (habitually use mouse scroller for zooming). And with my gigantic monitor the tiles are sooooo tiiiiny! 😢 Hope there is (or will be) a way to have larger tiles in both gallery view, and scroll view. 🤞

Hey this might be irrelevant but in “night cafe” when I try to to an image such as “a living house with legs running in forest” it create everything but the legs… is all AI art like this. It’s very annoying when you can’t properly get what’s on your mind in AI no matter how you describe it. Idk if it’s me because night cafe is a very accurate good Ai app so idk if you can help me It would be amazing if you could make an video on NIGHT CAFE too :)

I haven't checked into Night Cafe for a while but the problem you're having shows up in a lot of AI image generators. It hasn't seen images of what you're imagining. Midjourney sometimes struggles too - but the new Dall-e 3 is hitting it out of the park!

The website VERY quickly went from Beta to the main website. It's just www.midjourney.com/ The previous website is now legacy.midjourney.com/app/

Rating images on MJ is actually hard work. A lot of what is put in front of you is a mishmash of mainly bad taste, bad images and badly adhered prompts. I do it because I don't have the funds to pay much more than what I pay now, otherwise I wouldn't do it. However, once and a while you encounter a gem.

Oh. I don't find it hard work at all. Just tell MJ which image I like best. They're trying to figure out how to tune the MJ model based on our preferences. I agree that finding prompts and specific images is a rarity - but that's ok! Even one or two good prompts in a rating session is a good find!

That's a very good point. But artists work through collaboration. And that's supposed to be the spirit of MJ.

Or maybe just make it more difficult to steal the images. -- no download! Or truncate prompts.
