Thank you for interesting helpful video I’m around 70% s & p and 30% vwrl do you think this is enough diversification?
@RichardC2424Ай бұрын
Depends how much US and S&P500 exposure you are aiming for but here is the overlap math: US is around 62% of VWRL. Within this, S&P500 is over 80% of the total US market. Therefore approximately 50% of your VWRL is actually S&P500 so there is a large overlap. Meaning you are really 85/15 in S&P500 :) Personally I would dial up the VWRL or another similar FTSE All-World tracker, but depends on your goals.

i've been investing for over a year now but solely in the s&p 500, i want to diversify but i'm unsure how best to do this. i see so many videos talking about going for an All-World or cap fund but not what to do if you've already started down the s&p 500 route, i'm conscious of over-exposing to the US...

You could look at diversifying slightly over time, nothing wrong with keeping the s&p500 part if you want to keep the gains showing, I’m sure it’ll do great over time anyway, perhaps even more so than the world, but if you want to spread risk you could diversify going forward 🙂

Thank you. I'm not in the s&p500 but I have heard about world index's ....dont really know what to look for if I'm honest. I've been investing in the AI stocks which have been great, but I would like something more secure that will grow.

Great video. Very balanced. Yes, leave everything as it is and just keep on adding, But there IS concentration… 🤷♂️🤷♀️

I think the answer you are looking for is Yes. Companies like Apple are now so dominant, and I don’t see that changing in the future, which is why as an Apple user for 20 years I also own the shares. Just wish I,d bought in back in 1996!

Imagine those returns!

@@chrispalmer24 Yes I know in life there are not supposed to be regrets, but not buying Apple back then is definitely one! "Apple suspended its dividend payout in 1996, and was close to bankruptcy when it brought Jobs back in 1997. ... a $1000 investment back then would be worth around $1.8 million."
@yesno9834Ай бұрын
@@jonathanreevescad It’s such a redundant comment to make in fairness. Coulda, shoulda, woulda. It takes elements of great insight, nerve and luck to have invested in to the likes of Apple circa 1996/1997.

It is easy to think this but things change. No one would’ve guessed Nokia or blackberry would be dethroned, look at Google, anyone think they would be threatened prior to dec 2019? Now ChatGPT is here and even Google is nervous. Who saw Nvidia to dominate so well? The point is, don’t assume. The next 10 years is an AI era, whoever dominates will emerge winners and already USA is leading here in the tech. I wouldn’t invest in singular companies

I was putting 100% in S&P500 but now I’m 80% Bitcoin, 20% S&P500. On a 4 year average of 44% BTC hasn’t been beaten yet. S&P500 companies are so reliant on not been sued and Nvidia not tanking it’s become a vicious circle.
