Thus, they made a demand for separate communal electorates and British agreed because they wanted help in WW2 and ML agreed to work with the Brits whereas, Indian National Congress said WW2 is not India's war to fight.

Ganesha is God Of Intellect and Remover of Obstacles. He has elephant-head but we Hindus love ordinary elephants as well. Airavat Elephant which is mount of Lord Indra is venerated in many regions of India and Puram Festival of Kerala is all about aboring elephants. Elephants are also associated with Goddess Lakshmi as you can see pair of elephants besides her in many Hindu Miniature paintings. Btw we believe that elephants bring prosperity and good luck because where there is an elephant, water bodies and fertile land are always found nearby. Elephants are also praised for their strong memory, strength and brilliant sense organs.

They just like them for what they represent without attaching divinity to them. And this is seen in even in some flags where people depict lions, or wolves for courage and bravery and doves as symbols of peace. In none of them they see anything divine. If that is also the case with these statues, then I can understand.

I like your other answer about eagles in USA. So if someone has a statue of Shiva, it represents the appreciation towards distruction and ending of processes. Or if they have a statue of ram, it represents how an ideal person should be. So yes in some places it's about the divine being saving them, but at times it's just bowing down to universe.
