Hashtag United are a one-of-a-kind football and esports club, based in Essex, England. Formed in 2016 by Spencer Owen as a group of mates playing exhibition games, we now play in the 7th tier of English football, the Isthmian League North. We won our league in our first season in non-league football and were looking good for a second promotion when the 2019/20 season was voided, but after the 2020/21 season went the same way with us top of the Essex Senior League, we were eventually awarded promotion based on PPG over the two part seasons. In 2023 we won the Isthmian League North and will now play in the Isthmian Premier!
We merged with AFC Basildon Women in summer 2020 and formed our women's team, Hashtag United FC Women, who play in the 3rd tier of women's football, the FA Women's National League Southern Premier Division, after they also won their league in 2023. We also now have 40+ youth teams, reserve and development teams, an inclusive team and a walking football team...plus our esports team who play FIFA at the world's highest level. Subscribe on KZbin for our latest football content (and watch our journey so far), and follow our social channels for the latest club updates.

Been hearing “That’s his bread and butter” week in week out for AT he needs to start finishing his chances. That CB pairing was hard to watch (as a CB myself), I believe it was their first time playing together but they weren’t playing together at all. Finally, win your headers! There was no desire and no covering when going for headers. I’m sure they know themselves what went wrong, hopefully we see a major improvement next match. ❤

His bread and butter is only because he’s tall. He’s been awful this season, I don’t know why he’s still getting chances over Luke who is having to be played out of position half the time at cam which then kicks Misha out who also has some stunning games.

Seeing a lot of talk about CBs on the night, and everyone slating them both, but I honestly felt for Randall. Thought he did a better job than everyone is making it seem. The reason why he was out of position so much was that he was covering for Halford all over the place tonight. Halford looked uninterested, he was jogging everywhere and really didn't seem up for it tonight. A few of those goals tonight are on Halford, especially that 4th one with that nothing ball in the air (16:00), like what even is that? Randall did the best he could to cover for him tonight. Other team was hungrier.

Randall and Halford were shambolic. Halford knows he's too slow so he tries to walk. Randall is constantly falling all over the place and out of position. They need Haysom back immediately and Devs has his work cut out for him. And we need to see more of the Parrot!!!

Randall isn’t good enough, and Halford needs to go, he thinks his “nonchalant” defending is good, it isn’t, he is slow and sloppy in the air. Lets be honest, being forced to combine a new keeper with an untried centre back pairing, we were always going to be defensively vulnerable in this game. BUT, in that case, the rest of the team has to really step up and help out and they just didn't. The midfield have to really read the game and protect the back line and the strikers have got to be clinical and take the few chances they get and there was none of that from either unit. I've been worried about AT's conversion rate for a long time and it was brutally exposed here. Harry's cheap red card really came back to bite them. Hopefully that is a lesson that Harry and the whole team will learn and remember going forward. What this game might do is give the management and high ups some pointers towards recruitment needs for next season. And an occasional crash course in expectation management for us fans is probably not a bad thing either 😂.

serious question- did Halford have playing time in the Ressies before his call up back to the senior team? his pedigree obviously says he doesn’t necessarily need it, but i felt like more game time/game speed would have helped a bit with some of his play. that being said- he’s a threat and a valuable piece so excited to have him back

I honestly cannot keep watching games where Halfford plays. All well and good getting these "ex premier league defenders" and these "ex international" but he thinks the world revolves around him. He walks around, AT MOST he jogs, NEVER sprints, he doesn't put challenges in, doesn't jump for the ball. Just expects the ball to come to him. 4 of the 5 goals tonight were his fault. Part of the keepers job is to organise the defence. I don't think Ted Curd could organise him. Truly horrendous viewing. Horribly entitled and a terrible example to ANY up and coming players in the team

i'm always one to rush to the defense of our boys in the face of negative comments, but this one was tough to watch. i mean honestly, could greg halford look any less interested? it's impossible to judge someone's character through highlights and videos, but that sort of attitude seems to be well off the expected standard at hashtag. it's all well to have a player experienced in better leagues in the squad but unless they can show some commitment and leadership (like nathan smith) i'd rather have any of our former players from the lower levels any day of the week, at least they would fight for the shirt. like i said, greg seems like a nice bloke off the pitch and i'm sure the tiny glimpse we get as fans isn't reflective of his character, but i sure hope to start seeing some of the other side of it soon if that's the case...

Not seen the 90 mins. But based on this, this is more than us not being clinical. Greg has probably been forced to come back a week or two too early and it showed. If anyone saw him play for Blackburn back in the day, he has always been a very calm defender. Perhaps there was some lack of interest when you are 3-0 down and not fully fit. We lacked calmness and that pitch was horrid, even the painted lines on the pitch were wonky. I’ve seen better Sunday league pitches. Lots of issues involved in this one.

And this was exactly what I said about last week, our defence and our player marking is ridiculously poor. People are saying it's all Randall/Halford but watch some of the goals and just look at everyone else around the players in the box, no-ones moving to stop shots, people are just jogging about and walking in the defence it's a joke. Also AT needs to hit the target, week after week now he's just blazing shots well over the bar from great chances or putting headers wide from 5 yards out, don't know if his confidence is just gone but he's so much better than what he's been showing. His playmaking is still good, but needs to do some much better.

Hopefully Devs is in the market for a better third choice centre back. We have seen Halford not at his best for some time now but Randell doesn't have the legs or sharpness to cover for Haysom or Tom either. That being said, more tenacity was needed to cover for the centre halves. And up front, no one looked like scoring.

At his age and current form, Halford can only be effective at this level with an active, athletic centre back next to him like Haysom or Tommo. He and Randell are atrocious together. Yet another game where Camilo was a non factor. He’s great with the ball at his feet but doesn’t have the pace, or physicality to consistently take guys on and doesn’t have the vision or end product to do anything with it when he does. You can see AT is getting a bit desperate to mark his territory up top with Luke arriving but he just needs to get back to his old ways of making aggressive runs into the box and challenging every ball and I think the goals will come. Not sure if there was an injury or something but Sak seemed to be the only bright spot in that first half, have to wonder why he was taken off. Rough night but I know everyone is better than they were tonight, 3 points next time

How is nobody pointing out how little Mesha and Restrepo actually offer? They don’t work or provide quality or leadership. Devs has his favorites it seems🤦🏼‍♂️

Mesh is normally great when he's deployed in the CAM role, he doesn't look good on the wings but him and Luke pair up really well in attack, but Devs keeps starting Mesh with AT for some unknown reason and has him on the wings with Luke. Watch the games where Mesh has been CAM and Luke has been up top and you can just see how much more lethal we look.

Matty had a rough couple of games. Maybe tired but you see him a few times dropping his man, not closing him down, not being on the right side between the man and the goal. It looks like he's tired or smth. Hope he picks up form again soon. AT for his life can't score last couple of games. A few times were I also thought that our keeper could have catched it, but ultimately a hard welcome back I know they'll be back

I love AT as much as the next guy but I think it's time Luke starts either by himself or alongside AT or Alfie once he comes back. Luke has proven himself as a goalscorer and needs more opportunities. When it comes to the CBs I think we need to give greg more time. He's just back from injury after a couple of months not playing. He's gonna have some rust to run off. As for Randall I don't think he's shown enough yet to warrant a starting job but I've seen flashes of an interesting player.

Might be time to understand that theres no balance in the defense, both CB's are ball playing & stiff centre backs. Pace is needed asap. Either you convert Nathan into a CB which is a quicker defenser then you go scout for a new quick/phyiscal Left-Back, or just find a pacier Center Half. You pair the two, one ball playing, taller and physical and one quicker, maybe less physical but can atleast catch up to tricky attackers. Balance is needed.
