Steve, first off, you're a class act and I enjoy your videos and candor immensely. I agree that the existing Hatsan QE baffle components are not efficiently lowering the report of our airguns. I researched and purchased a 3D printed baffle to quiet down my Hatsan Flashpup on Ebay. You can search "10-Stage Vented Baffle for Hatsan". I'm not affiliated with the seller, I just wanted to let your followers know what I found. I was using an aftermarket suppressor attached to the end of my Flashpup with the stock Hatsan QE baffle setup. After inserting the 3D printed baffle into the existing shroud, I've removed the aftermarket suppressor and the gun is comparably quiet. Thanks again for the content you produce, all you do for the airgun community and your tributes (SMWA) to the men and women in the armed forces and first responders.

I just bought this gun in .25 cal from Pyramyd Air..absolutely beautiful gun! I have several of the Hatsan guns to include the AT44-QE in .22 and the BullMaster in .25. I took the adjustable cheek piece off both the BullMaster and the Airmax and it helps proper cheek placement a lot without too much or really any discomfort. I really think it makes the guns look better as well. Anyway, I did not exactly start out as a fan of the heavy Hatsan guns but that has definitely changed! They are among my favorites in my collection of air rifles and powder burners.

I have a the 22cal Hatsan Air Max it's deadly accurate shooting HN 5.5 mm barracuda match domed 21gr 935 FPS and the 16 gr H&N TERMINATORS at 950fps , about 70 to 80 shots per fill it's my favorite sit in one spot and snipe all day , it is a sweet pcp for the price , I also have a 25 bullboss another very accurate pcp .

Thanks brother. I just got this. Better late than never. It looks real similar to the Kral puncher knight. Can't wait to see the full review. God bless you brother.......I think this rifle brings alot of value to us. Iooks good. High shot count. Great power. You can use this for everything and not break the bank. Just buy the Flash Pup as well incase your planning on carrying it all day and hunting offhand.....We can never own enough guns. That's why I love these prices.

I purchased one in .25 and I’m totally blown away with it. I’ve tweaked it, removed the QE Shroud and added a DonnyFL SUMO IN .30 so it won’t clip and it’s a quiet beast hunter. A Huma regulator is soon to be installed for further experimenting. Thanks to your review I NOW FEEL LIKE THE HAPPIEST AIR GUNNER IN TOWN to own one🤣😂 Keep up the good work, Thanks 👍

I am getting a similar spread out of my Nova Star but this has been slightly detuned to just over 900 fps in. .22 using JSB 18.13. As you said Hatsans generally run a bit hot. Robert Lane is releasing a new regulator next week and at the moment I am in 2 minds as to whether it is worth considering. Although longer at 43" it does weigh less at 8.4lbs and I have got trigger down to about 1lb4oz. Generally it is taking 1-2 years from release here in Turkey before it gets to you in the States and over that time Hatsan make a few tweaks to improve them.

I bought the airmax refurbished sometime ago and after a tune & regulator I have to say this is my most prized Hatsan for power and accuracy!!!! It has a weird Appetite for AA 16gr at 960fps, 100yards at or under 2inch group with 10 shots.. This gun is actually balanced very well for a tank ,but usually shot on a rest for a long target session on one fill !!!😁 By the way thank you for someone finally doing a review on this gun it is way over looked!!!

I have the AirMax in .25 cal and one of the first things I did was take off the cheek rest and glue on a piece of 1/8" neoprene in place of it. The first thought that came to mind is that the adjustable cheek rest should have been mounted on the other side of the stock which would allow you to get your face 3/4 inch closer to being in the right position. Hatsan claims this is a choked barrel so I tried slugs through it without much luck. I get better accuracy with diabolo style pellets. I cleaned the barrel when I got the gun and removed a lot of factory crud and then dry swabbed until it was clean, but the groups are only OK at best, 3/4 to 1" CtoC at only 10 yards, which is maybe acceptable for small game but not what I'd hoped for. Maybe the barrel needs some break-in time? The shot count was good and as advertised.

Nice video Steve. I have the Gladius long in 25 caliber and i shoot it left handed. The mechanism is the same as mine. The riser does seem to be hefty right handed. It is outfitted with a bipod and a Hawk 6.5x20 x42mm side focus with a one piece mount. I have the included sunshade installed with a total length of 20 inches just for the scope. So mine is pushing 12 pounds plus. And yes i have carried this out hunting . It is very heavy and comfortable to hold. I have never cleaned the barrel . Pulled it out of the case and started shooting. Less than 5 rounds to zero ( very easy). It loves the JSB 25.39 grain pellets , never tried another brand or weight as of yet. Very accurate. The weight although cumbersome make it easy to hold on a target. Most of weight is in the butt section. I don't need a gym membership with this gun.

I just bought a refurbished AirMax from Hatsan ( they really have great deals on refurbished stuff ) and I am really amazed at this PCP rifle. it hits hard, you can feel the punch when you fire it, of course it is not heavy recoil but it is definitely more recoil my Blitz, M-rod, or Umerax Origin. where it is a heavy gun I like the way it shoulders, it has a solid and sure feel. I like the comb and I am using standard scope mounting rings, but that is just me, I am using it with the bi-pod right now after a 4 level Cervical spinal fusion. I love this gun in .25, I would feel comfortable taking it rabbit and squirrel hunting and it would certainly be a good nuisance possum and racoon killer.

I know this is an old video you've done but I just wanted to point out if you're a left-handed shooter the cheek rest is perfectly placed on the left side of the gun and with the right side forward cocking it's excellent

Hey Steve I have the AirMax in .25 cal. My AirMax shoots the H&N Hornets. They are a bit too long for the mag though. After loading I sit the mag down on the counter and press down to make sure the tips are not poking out. I can get a dime size hole with the Hornets at 25 yards. It also has a great pattern at 50 yards. My next favorite pellets are the H&N barracuda's. They're very accurate as well but the Hornets are much better. In fact they're better than the JSB's in my gun. I also bought one of the 10 stage baffles from eBay as well as a suppressor and bipod. Now it's very backyard friendly, however this thing is now very heavy. I don't even attempt to shoot it standing up free hand. I only shoot it with the bipod. I agree with you in regards to the value of this gun in the price range. In my opinion no other gun can compete with it at this price. I just wish the air bottle was removable.

Glad you mentioned that the Baracuda pellets do not feed well in .25 cal. Even if you load the magazine perfectly, the pellets will creep forward after a few shots and block the rotation of the magazine. The same problem occurs with the other Hatsan guns that use the same magazine; the Bullboss and the BT65. The BT65 is a heavy gun with a heavy side lever, I accidentally jammed the rotation mechanism because I did not notice the Baracuda pellets blocking the rotstion mechanism. That being said, I love my Hatsan guns (Bullboss and BT65), because they are accurate, powerful and reliable.

Great looking "bench" rifle. With that barrel height might fit a CF bottle. I'm hoping someone tinkers and adds the regulator up close to the bottle thus utilizing the air tube as a large plenum space for staging regulated air. The palm swell looks comfy. Looking forward to seeing the 50/100 yd review.

I have a bullboss and it has an added moderator. I have 2 extra air tubes and I really like it for shooting pigeon, crows and groundhog. I have regulators and get about 42 foot pounds and 24 shots per airtube. That being said, the extra 2 lbs is sort of bad but 85 shots is a big plus especially if you shoot slugs and sniper shoot multiple targets instead of stalk and shoot at one animal.
@Don.E.63

Great overview Steve, I like it, I do wish it wasn't so heavy but a lot of my shooting is done off some sort of bench or prop (bench for target) (prop from a blind) I like the power and shot count also, thanks for all you do!, Don

The Airmax is a perfect specimen for a regulator. From the factory the pressure charge is limited to 200 bars due to the rifle tune. The bottle on the airmax is rated for 300bar, with a regulator installed the rifle can be filled to 300bar.

You are right. This doesn't sound like a trudging-through-the-woods-for-grey-squirrel rifle. It would probably be more of a find-a-nice-comfy-spot-on-a-grassy-knoll-to-wait-for-a-wood-chuck kind of rifle for me.... which means long distance shots of around a hundred yards, so it had better be sub moa at that distance. You get one shot at the wood chucks in my area, and if you miss, he's in his hole for the rest of the day.

In my opinion bullpups have transformed within the past couple of years into a gun that really shouldn't be referred to as a bullpup. There needs to be more criteria other than just having the action and magazine behind the trigger to be considered a true bullpup. A length, weight and smaller overall frame requirements being a few of those things. I mean look at some of the bullpups out today, they are practically muskets.

Hatsan USA tells me they've had no issues with getting product here and that that this has been a hallmark year for them. I too have read of a few CS issues here and there but most of what I see is all positive. On AGN there were a couple of consumer complaints of poor reciprocal communication but when Hatsan published their return emails on record, that shut things down pretty quick, haha. I wouldn't worry to much about it. They're accessible. Steve

Hi Steve, thanks for great reviews. I owned several Hatsans so I know they are powerful tools but the barrels always very dirty and that I have to work hard to clean them all. I couldn't think of any other air guns quiet close to this frankiestand but may be some of Evanixs come close except the discontinued Rainstorm (super good gun!) I have few bullpups including Hatsan Bully so this one is about same weight class. I must say I'm sorry Hatsan but I won't buy this one due to the complication and erroneous of the product. I'm kinda hoping Hatsan would come out with something like Vectis style semiauto in .30 cal regulated with carbon fiber tank then it would be SUPER GREAT!! Keep up the good work Mr Steve.

any hand pump that goes over 3k psi would work fine for it. definitely a bit of work to pump it up by hand but thats how I do it

Steve, let us be honest, Hatsan usually build quality is not refine at all, just look at even that shaky side lever cocking

I feel like Hatsan makes a good product that's offers a lotta value. With added refinement comes dollars and the air gets awfully thin up there. Best, Steve

The ground dwelling rodents living out behind my house in Southeast Wyoming would be bummed out if I had that gun. I shot 54 in 3.5 hours today with a Umarex Gauntlet. 25. It needs a bigger tank and more magazines.

Steve: I have owned this this rifle for over a year! I bought it when it first came out. $679.00 from PA. I HATE IT, Would make a nice boat anchor. TRIGGER horrible.. Weight, about??? weigh too much. I took it out of my safe hopping someone would steal it.
